Why DevOps is popular than waterfall and agile.
This all are improvements of previous version.
In waterfall model: it is step by step method. Means once whole project is done then only it will go to the next level for further processing lik build test etc. So here the problem was after coding whole project 6 months and later client come up with new requirements then what. Whole project needed to change it was the problem.
Then agile method which somewhat resolve problem of waterfall that agile does devlop short code like (login page) then build, run ,test. Even if there is new requirement developer used to do it. But still there was problem as agile works at developement level only and hence there would b conflict between teams like code is running at dev side but not at deploy side(operations). Then comes DevOps which manage both dev + ops. And minimised conflict.

I think it git rebase vs git merge.
