I wish I was a teen in 2013 😭😭😭😭
ОтветитьMy memory of that chibi pastel goth image is that it accompanied a set of similar drawings of many "girl types", not really a "me vs other girls" more a "me and a collection of other styles, tag which one is soo you" kinda vibe
Ответитьmy character pinterest boards would be so sparse without these tumblr trends... they did so much heavy lifting. we would have no culture today without them
ОтветитьI just realized i was the “common white girl” … jeez
Ответитьtumblr girls are back!!!
ОтветитьDue to the mentioning of "pastel goth", I am legally required to add that it is, in fact, not goth
ОтветитьWhen I was little I always wondered how you even got into alt subcultures without people thinking you're just a "poser" or something like that. Also I genuinely thought I would start dressing like I'm Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way as a teen because I thought that was just what teenage girls did (even though my half-sister who was a teenager at the time never dressed like that) and I was dreading that sort of behavior in those communities. As a teenage girl now, I know that's not true and I never did get into any alt subcultures, mostly because I don't have that amount of commitment to or care about fashion lol
ОтветитьThe Worse thing than pandemic is toxic fandom/hatedom
Ответить2014 tumblr grunge style until i die
ОтветитьNo finger tattoo but I did make a duct tape dress out of mustache patterned duct tape. Just one step below the tattoo.
Ответитьmy nintendo 3DS was galaxy💯
ОтветитьI had a mustache ring back then and I completely forgot about it😂😂😂
ОтветитьIn my early teens I was a goth/emo, I even had a lip piercing and stretched ears (still do). I wasn't really anything for years but have recently swung back around to being goth, not a pastel goth but a cute fashion goth. I'm the kind of goth I wanted to be but couldn't because I wasn't an adult with my own money. Since then I add 2 more face piercings, a whole bunch more ear piercings, cute goth clothes, platform boots, all of my hair is colored not just color accents, and actual leather chokers. 14 year old Mary Lee could only dream of being like I am now, I can with 100% certainty say that it indeed was not a phase 😂 I also finally can wear fishnet stockings and thigh high socks, that was one thing I always wanted to wear.
ОтветитьWhen I hear something about tumbler, I think of a different side of that, yall know what i mean
ОтветитьWait what about art hoes/ plant moms
ОтветитьThe black and white striped shirt, black jeans, denim jacket, and docs or chelsea boot fit still haunts me to this day
Ответитьi wish stuff like this was still cool
ОтветитьI honestly did not expect to feel called out by this video but the tumblr indie grunge part knocked me on my ass. i was really listening to artic monkeys in high school and thinking i was better than everyone
ОтветитьWhen I was in 6th grade I had a pair of leggings that were galaxy print with donuts, tacos, and dogs all over them. I'm a 70s punk now
Ответитьi didn't have a tattoo of a moustache but I did had a pair of earrings and a ring lmao
Ответитьits melanie martinEZ. EZZZ!!!!!
Ответитьi wanted to dress like some of these so bad but never really had the money, so i dress a lil cringe like that now:|
ОтветитьI still wear pastel goth to this day, minus the demonic symbols
ОтветитьI tried so hard to be a grunge girl at the peak of the aesthetic but lacked the femininity lol. But tumblr really shaped the teens of the 2010s, no matter how toxic the site was in reality it really gave us an unapologetic space to express ourselves and have fun. Really sad to see what it has become today but I guess everything has to end someday…
ОтветитьAahhhh I love how you mentioned marina!
Ответитьi remember having an old friend who had mustaches all over her house, so nice to look back at!
Ответитьthe mustache section gave me vivid flashbacks of a embroidery mustache my brother had sewn onto his backpack 😭
ОтветитьThis makes me feel so old 😂
ОтветитьI understand the spikes, it makes you look more scary. But scary women are a little like annoying moleholes. No one's scared of them, and the men they are copying would beat them to death for daring to copy them.i get it though, your face is super long and this makes your eyes larger, taking away from that. Still. A man who will make you cream yourself and beg for attention is not gonna give a fuck about your stupid highschool era spikes.
Ответитьcool vid...thanks for the trip down my cyber memories lol Im age 31.
ОтветитьSeeing that “Being a teen in 2014” screenshot made me fall to my knees dramatically
ОтветитьThe pedophilic “Nymphet” aesthetic was absolutely wild. There were a lot of pictures of Dolores from the movie Lolita and fashion inspiration from her. People acted like Dolores and Humbert’s relationship was cute ignoring the fact that Dolores was a child r*pepe victim! People were posting pictures of them kissing and stuff absolutely disgusting, not only that but a lot of young girls romanticized age gap relationships, older men, dressed up as children, and eating disorders. The ones that had “daddy kink” were the weirdest. I remember watching edited videos about Lolita with a Lana Del Rey song at the background, specifically her song “Be My Daddy Tonight” and I thought it was the cutest thing ever, I was like 11 or 12. Maybe it was because of my daddy issues or my CSA trauma or I was just an impressionable tween that had no internet restriction.
Ответитьi had a mustache themed birthday party
Ответитьunrelated your eye makeup made me double take when i saw the vid preview tho that shit fire
ОтветитьAha my "not like other girls" phase was ... realising that I wasn't like other girls, no matter how hard I tried.
Not LGBTQ+, not neurodivergent, just...different.
And I was surprisingly ok with that?
My mam had to stop me from wearing stripes on stripes once, I only listened to TØP, I was smarter than most of my class, I was obsessed with Lego: Ninjago and House of Anubis, I played with Barbies and Monster High dolls, and I collected Perry The Platypuses. I loved Harry Potter but was surprised to find out that it was actually very mainstream when I eventually got internet access, and I could never settle on one favourite colour.
And I've never really changed, except my tastes have become more refined and I've decorated my room properly (with rocks, candles, cuddly toys, and random shiny bits of metal I found on the ground - all things just genuinely like and make me happy) and I have since developed actual hobbies (caving and scrapbooking and felting small animals - kinda a bit cottagecore, but I'm not bothered about dressing to match lol) so am happier with myself and my life now than I've ever been, regardless of whether other people dress/act like me (but I'm happy if they do!) ❤
Ok show of hands, who desperately wanted to dress like one of these as a 12/13yo but was too poor, socially anxious and/or sheltered 🙋
Ответитьfrom a brown girl’s perspective i never felt very seen or validated by any alternative styles specifically on tumblr bc it was almost always dominated by very pale people, i even went as far as trying to bleach my skin (which didn’t work and shouldn’t be a thing). i’m glad that in the 2020’s more poc are prominent in alternative subcultures, i hope the poc children who have a taste for that type of music and or fashion will feel more comfortable portraying themselves as such
Ответитьoh god i so badly wanted to pull off the pastel goth look when i was younger but seeing only pale people as such i felt like i wasn’t allowed to
Ответитьanyone else a my chemical romance fan?? bc i blew up when it was mentioned-
ОтветитьMustache aesthetic people realized they were trans, got on t, and now put glitter in his beard
Ответитьthis video made me realize i was every kind of hipster at once in elementary school
Ответитьit’s crazy, i remember never really knowing any of these but loving all the fashion lmao
ОтветитьTake. Me. Back.
Ответитьdude the 2010 indie grunge aesthetic is literally the embodiment of what created my style as an adult 12 years later 💀
ОтветитьAm I the only person who remembers tumblr getting shut down like vine? I literally learned a week ago it still exists and like tf am I going crazy what happened
ОтветитьI never really left my tumblr grunge era tbh
Ответить
