Unfortunately Literally 48hrs ago, Drift Games just had a massive fire and lost EVERYTHING. Soooo Sad! So many sick cars and builds along with mercy, computers, and years of coverage. Support them if possible.

I both love and hate the car culture we have in Ireland. I love it for the unique parts of it, like modifying work vans and our vintage car scene is savage. What I hate is everything else. As said in this video, cars here are ridiculously expensive, which means that everyone ends up driving the same cars. Every young guy drives a VW Passat or Bora, and car guys will probably end up driving an is200 or golf, because we have no other options. Thankfully that's starting to change as people are starting to work on micras and such, but it's still really bland.

About 10 years ago our scene was absolutely brilliant. Old cars weren't super expensive to import and tax was reasonable. You would see skylines, evos, imprezas and integras on the roads, driven by average people. Nowadays if a car is older than 2008 it can be nuts to insure and tax because of the way that tax is evaluated here.
I'm a young guy, don't have my license yet, and honestly I'm at a point where I'm not sure if I really want it until I finish college and start working. A first car, at minimum, for a 20 year old man will cost me about €7k. Up to €5k for the car and €2k for the tax and insurance if I'm lucky. My bus costs me 65c per trip. Petrol (or gas) as also crazing expensive here. €1.70-€1.90 per litre, or about €8 ($10) a gallon. With the €7k for the car and the cost of petrol, it;s no wonder people are driving tiny 1L micras and 2L diesel VWs, because nothing else is reasonable.

We walked by the temple bar pub yesterday, full of tourists and we laughed at the thought of them being ripped off for a tenner a pint, it's like the least irish bar there is because they peddle the paddywhackery to the poor tourists. Sorry to see you got roped into the place
