Without the Black seminoles understanding the English dialect from being on the plantations the red indians would have never known what treaty were being negotiated. The Black Seminole’s had leaders like John horse who understood how to run forts, cultivate land and understood how to fight a guerrilla warfare.

The more US history I read, the more I realized Andrew Jackson is a real shit stain. And as much as we love to think the Union leaders like Grant and Sherman were good because of the side they were on in the Civil War, they had some clear faults of their own when it came to the Plains Tribes and others.

The premise is not entirely true... there are others who never surrendered. They signed treaties, but that's not the same thing.

I was born and raised in Miami. My dad made sure we understood Seminole origins (slavery included)and their heroic history. Hearing the name pronounced as 4 syllables made me clench my teeth but I'm so glad the tribe is finally being recognized for their unique place in history. Too bad others didn't find a defensible refuge where whites couldn't exploit/destroy who they were.
