I’m 52 seconds in, and you already get a like for your amazing Hitchcock-esque intro!!
ОтветитьSuperb video.
ОтветитьAbsolutely AWESOME documentary! You are very professional and have a great presentation!
ОтветитьT-Rex’s are no joke we have one popping out of a storm drain in my town so I take the long way home!🦖🤯🔫
ОтветитьSeduction of the innocent started by a fascist, now Disney plus feeds apes sorghum. The franchises your parents help build, pathetic remnants of decayed fetus.
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьReally well presented commentary on the subject. I am an animation timing director and have worked on many of the most popular prime time television properties of the day. Oddly I was not a comic book fan growing up, especially super hero stuff. It struck me as nonsense, and growing up in a household that put me through the kind of physical and emotional abuse I had experienced taught me, there are no heroes coming to save the day, or me. But if someone were to have flown in through a window wearing dance skins and a cape, the result would have been now Two of us are getting our asses handed to us..probably make a good EC Story..
I was more like Far Side gallery kid, calvin and hobbs, mad magazine, and Cracked were more my speed. No less crass, but wrapped in a satirical comedic writing style. I needed to laugh at something outside my own circumstances, much like the horror comic fans do when reading a particularly thrilling or taboo story. Its just an escape.
I know many, many serious geeks that collect comics. A few are horror comics heavy collectors. Its Through their libraries I discovered the genre of horror comics, and had I known about the existence of this style of writing, and artwork as a younger man, I could’ve seen myself having every issue of The Witching Hour, Tales from the Crypt, etc.
The artwork alone across the board was just so well done. The stories compelling, the macabre and taboo elements of human nature exposed..just good entertainment value in general..
And not one of my friends or colleagues turned out to be serial killers, or could be accused of perpetrating any crimes against women aside from boring them to death talking about their comic book collections and avoiding direct eye contact
This was good
Ответитьwhats the video at the beginning and where can i find the whole thing?
ОтветитьI love the whacky old voodoo third world vibes. They’re so unrealistic that I don’t think it’s necessary for woke people to make so such bay of it. Cultural critics now take so much fun out of these obviously dated works.
ОтветитьLove this, thanks so much, great insight into one of my favourite things from pop culture!
ОтветитьYou’ve got the wrong end of the stick here. It was never meant to be thrown away, that way the term given to it because it was trashy. The same as throw away or disposable punk music. Can see how it may sound that way looking at it but that wasn’t how it was meant at the time.
ОтветитьWow, this was great!
ОтветитьThe amount of detail and research that has gone into these videos is simply amazing. I just found this channel out the other day and I'm instantly hooked.
ОтветитьI feel bad that the horror genre is in constant need of defense. Not unlike heavy metal, it’s a legitimate art form that isn’t without controversy. My mom always asked, “Why do you like them ol’ ugly books?” Haha. I answered, “There’s beauty to be appreciated if you look for it.”
ОтветитьTerrible video. Shoddy research and voice over is racist.
ОтветитьI loved this documentry so much. You are an amazing content creator. I knew about almost all of the information, but you made it fresh with a spectacular twist. You are the voice of horror comic history. Thank you for creating this.
ОтветитьAs I write this, the video currently stands at 666K views. How appropriate. XD
ОтветитьFantastic
ОтветитьWhere is Dylan Dog the nightmare investigator born from the brilliant mind of Tiziano Sclavi and from the pencil of Claudio Villa. One of the best horror comics ever. A new issue comes out every month and is among the best-selling horror comics ever.
So a comic to be horror must be only American or Japanese?
If the United States had prohibited horror and superhero comics for children under the age of 16 in the 1930s, today's United States would not have all of these "politically correct, b/w, gender neutral, and other issues."
What a youngster witnesses in his youth has long-term consequences, which do not manifest immediately but have an impact on society over time.
It took 80 years for the United States of America, - and the current generation is messed up and stupid.
There's a reason why parents don't have sex in front of their children; if only they could apply that logic to comic books.
I'm not suggesting comics had a "Major role," but it's every parent's responsibility to "groom their children well" and be responsible.
It's always the same - The content creators made money , while the "future" suffers. Money Rules
It gets me how all these people crow about censorship and then every ten minutes they're trying to censor someone else. We're supposed to take our freedoms so seriously, but every ten minutes, the people who are supposed to uphold them are up on their pulpit bellowing about how those freedoms must be suppressed "for the children". Who never get a say. It's happening right now. It's always happening. Two hundred years and we've learned nothing.
Ответитьwhen the nights of horror section came up i jokingly thought ''my favorite horror stories: man kissing woman. woman smoking with man. two women engaging in what seems to be homosexuality. dominatrix woman about to whip a man. woman on her hands and knees about to be whipped by a man, presumebaly her husband. a fuckton of bondage involving women and sometimes men.''
ОтветитьI was born in 1964 and by 1973 I was addicted to House of Mystery, House of secrets, tower of shadows, the witching hour, those were the best horror comics during that period. As I got older I could not find those comics anymore. I am purchasing the Omnibus series (hard cover compilations) of HOuse of mystery, tales from the crypt, etc and it is awesome getting back into them after 50 years. I recently purchased a 12.4 inch tablet so I am also downloading them digitally.
ОтветитьAny super good and eerie old horror comics i should check out? I just picked up ghost stories by deli and its okay but i want that genuine omg this could happen feeling like nightmare on elm street pls anyone jaja
Ответить6:24 am I trippin or does the guy look like Nicholas cage 💀
Ответитьi see you are trying to push your agenda. I always find it funny how people who are doing shadey things wrap themselves in the flag and claim they have the right to. Don't get me wrong I like these comics myself but I do believe there needs to be an appropriate time for kids to be introduced.
ОтветитьThe wokeness of this documentary is far scarier than any horror comic!
I bet his current videos are so woke that they will only play on black or LGBT owned devices.
Those pre code horror books are great for investment. Art and history.
ОтветитьThanks for creating this documentary. Crazy how back then they fought to stop without asking the youth. It was about control. Now when u look at the world today and what's going on u can see comics has nothing to do with it.
ОтветитьWhat a legacy left by these europ. men. The stories and art, such a unique treasure. It defined horror.
ОтветитьNights of horror too looks like the art by John willie, one of my favourite artists
ОтветитьYour channel s amazing
ОтветитьFascinating video ! Whenever my aunt would go grocery shopping and I went with her, I'd always go and look at the comic book racks. Sometimes she'd give me a buck or two and I'd pick out what I liked and I liked Batman, House of Mystery, House of Secrets, and others ; she'd tell me, " Absolutely not, they'll give you nightmares, young man ! " So I had to buy only Richie Rich, Casper, and lots of Archie comicbooks, which were so 😴. However, she was happy ; I was bored to tears ! She was in charge when I visited her ; so I had no choice but to comply with her wishes ! I read the comics and either threw them in the trash or had to save them for other kids who'd come and visit. Took me a long time before I started to read Archie comicbooks again.
ОтветитьI like how ec let their artists draw how they draw. I hate the idea and look of "house styles." I will always prefer stylized comics over generic bullshit.
ОтветитьI recall reading an old paperback called " The Vault of Horror or Tales From The Crypt " way back in the 1960s or early 1970s ! It would give me chills just reading it, it had a lot of art drawn by " Ghastly Graham Ingels ! ". Nobody could draw creepy things emerging from the ground, crypts, and almost anywhere else ! His art is comparable to Mike Ploog and Berni Wrightson ; maybe others ?
ОтветитьWow. A kid in the early 90s? I was nearing 30 by then. Keep up the good research and passion for comics. Well done,
ОтветитьAre you a red dupe is a pretty funny and good argument tbh
ОтветитьIdk if you can attribute 50s horror comics to watchmen as it has same layout as superhero comics of the same time period but you might have a point on lighting in dark scenes
ОтветитьI'm from Brazil and this is my second time watching all your videos. You have an amazing content. If you are interested in adding portuguese substitles, I would help you for free
ОтветитьOnly the weak minded, gullible, sociopathic. people would fine committing crimes in the Real world, from reading comic books crimes is sad, stupid .
ОтветитьThis was really well done. Absolutely enjoyed this!
