ОтветитьI'm following along with this series trying to make my own as well, it's a blast.
ОтветитьThis is awesome, looking at your more recent devlogs, it is awesome to see the progress you have made since.
Thank you for walking us through your process!
Hi im seth and im making a smash bros game called xenomon the legacy trilogy but you know that didn't you
ОтветитьI can't take you seriously when it sounds like you recorded this in a bath tub.
ОтветитьJust curious about the game engine. I'm on a m2 mac and not an intel based one. AGS seems to be windows only? Did you look at other game engines?
ОтветитьGreat GREAT job Adam!!! 🍻🍻 I've been wanting to start designing graphic adventures for a lot of years but my problem is to start writing the story and how to develop it haha. Any ideas to start with it? How did you get inspired to put together the plot of the game? and how did you start?
Ответитьgive me idea to made the neverhood 3 and release with intro "the good man fell from the sky"
ОтветитьNice to find you! I'm a 2D artist who worked in adventure games for a lot of years and now I'm trying to do my own. Have the main story figure out but need the basics for scripting and designing the puzzles etc, this videos are going to be so usefull :) thx in advance!
ОтветитьI've always wanted to tackle something along these lines, I was a huge fan of Broken Sword and Phantasmagoria, and so many others. But the amount of art this genre requires is quite intimidating... I can code and I can draw (if I get some rust off me). I think I'll poke around in adventure game studio. I had no idea it existed. :)
Ответить'a number of months'
oh boy how do we tell him
Nice. Your video is great as a starting point. Good luck on on project.
ОтветитьVery inspiring! Do you have a discord server?
ОтветитьI always wanted to make a simple broken sword inspired kind of point n click adventure game
Ответитьthe cat!! is so ginger!!!
ОтветитьBet you never finished a game after this...
Why would I say that? Because that’s the way it is for 90% of starting game devs.
story and puzzles are currently my nightmare ... I'm making a point&click adventure, as a 2D artist and animator though. I think you have a strong advantage being a writer!
ОтветитьThank you so much for this! I am starting my first point and click project and this was a huge help on where to start.
ОтветитьTwine is also a fun way to map out a non-linear game too!
ОтветитьI'm already really enjoying this but WHY that looping music all the way through?? I know everyone does it now but I must say IT DRIVES ME NUTS! I cannot be alone in this....Anyway, cheers! And best of luck with it.
ОтветитьI am exactly in the same boat.
ОтветитьNot to be a pest, and comment 3 times in a row on 3 videos. But, asiee from the help and apperication , and respect for the art and style you have [and similar background in getting into this, except im sure you were ahead im more of a Photoshop make logos and design for local shops and menus for restaurants kibda guy i guess is how id word it im sick so little foggy. Got broncitis and am so tired ] i hope your well. Stay safe. And thanks again for the videos and calming easy explanation of things. Be well buddy. Thank you.
ОтветитьKeep em coming! 😁
ОтветитьI REALLY want to do this and have very little experience coding
ОтветитьI've worked as a game dev years ago and I'm looking forward to follow your process 🙂
ОтветитьI really want to make a comic of a story I've been writing for a few years, and honestly turning it into an interactive point-and-click style is really appealing to me??
ОтветитьI grew up in the 90's and I played the heck out of point n click and SCUMM games and I've wanted to make or be part of making one for a long time. I know nothing about making games so this was a very inspiring video. I got motivated and encouraged to now learn how to make one. Thanks for everything and good luck on your adventure making one!
ОтветитьGood luck and best wishes
ОтветитьHi Adam, how is it going with the game? best of lucks!
ОтветитьIn the simaular boat as well - loved the Gabriel Knight series, The longest journey and all that
ОтветитьI'm ALSO deciding to try my hand at point and click during quarantine! I'm a few months behind you, so you can imagine my gratitude at finding this devlog! Thanks, and thanks for the links in the doobly-doo, too! Grim Fandango is a marvelous read.
ОтветитьI want to make a point-and-click (brutal) game. I got inspired by Danganrompa, but it's more of a modern fantasy thing.... if it makes sense? I will not spoile you anything but my god THANK YOU
ОтветитьOMG you are best dude, I like your teaching
ОтветитьI'm gonna continue watching due to the phenomenal like/ dislike ratio (almost 100:1) but your audio leaves a lot to be desired! music is too loud and voice has too much air and bass. It sounds like your preamp was turned down too low when you recorded. It's an older video so maybe you figured out what happened it but just saying just in case. I will watch it later on my other PC with a system EQ because, as is - I, personally, can only make out like every 10th word. Thank you for your work! came up first when I searched "DIY graphic adventure game" :)
ОтветитьHello! What engine is better for creating a 2d point and click adventure now?
ОтветитьNot even making a point and click, but this looks super interesting. I love watching these kinds of development videos and getting excited for progress for other people's projects
Ответитьhad to stop watching because of the lip smacking
Ответитьgreat man, best of luck with your project!
ОтветитьIntriguing and following. Was thinking the same today!
ОтветитьI'd prefer a point n click without the main character on the screen like for example don't escape 1-3
ОтветитьWow, same same same. Trying to bring the ol sketchbook to life and Sat and Sun full of Unity tutorials left me deflated. Going to follow your path, great idea to organize the workflow! Best!
ОтветитьReally enjoyed this video man and would love to see more as you continue. Even if you don't have a huge amount to report, would be good to just hear about whatever interesting findings and struggles you've come across.
ОтветитьI’ve been interested in making my own game for a while now and have started (a tiny bit) dabbling one unity. I’ve just now decided to do a point and click adventure, does anyone have any advice whether I should switch or if it would be easier to do this in another engine? I have no game making or real coding experience but am very willing to learn.
Also this video is exactly what I’ve been looking for for months, most of the Dev logs I’ve found relevant have started halfway through the development process which isn’t as easy to learn from as this, so thank you
Awesome job so far! Can't wait for Devlog #2! I'm also in the process of designing a point and click adventure game.
