I agree that being on a plane during the 1950s was a good experience. Friendly staff on the ground and in the air who were friendly and willing to assist. And oh how I missed the comfortable seats and the LEGROOM!!! My first time on a plane was a Stratocruiser but I was on a Constellation and Super Constellation as well as others. These were CONFORTABLE, you know, no cramped cabins, bad food and lousy on-time performance.

Ich glaube der Film mit den Innenaufnahmen wurde am Boden gefilmt. Und alle Passagiere waren Schauspieler oder zumindest Komparsen. Sieht man auch daran, weil alle Vorhänge geschlossen waren.

Ohhhh, klein "Schimmi" durfte mit seinen Eltern First Class fliegen. Nichts dagegen einzuwenden. Aber dann in Deutschland "nur" in einem Volkswagen Käfer umherreisen. Das passt nicht ganz zusammen. Weshalb kein Mercedes oder wenigstens Opel Admiral?

Vom Erstflug 1950 bis November 2023 kam es mit Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation zu 111 Totalschäden von Flugzeugen. Bei 58 davon kamen 1094 Menschen ums Leben.
Abenteuer fliegen 😊.

Der Flugkapitän ist Rudolf Mayr - der damalige Chefpilot. Er flog schon 1938 mit Dornier Wal Transatlantik, flog auf der Antarktisexpedtion und war dann im Krieg Pilot einer Focke Wulf 200 Condor als Fernaufklärer über dem Nordatlantik (KG 40). Er gehörte damit zu den Legenden der ersten Transatlantik-Linenpiloten.

Der wohlbeleibte Koch ist Eduard Dittler, der Chefkoch. Er hat später auch ein Kochbuch mit Lufthansa Rezepten und Anekdoten geschrieben ("Für Sie gekocht")

Die Uniformen der Crews stammten damals vom Hamburger Bekleidungshaus Toedt.

Ironically, at the time this film was made, Lufthansa couldn't fly in or out of Berlin. That was because West Berlin was located within East Germany, which only allowed airlines of the 4 countries that had occupied their portion of the city at the end of World War II to use the airport.

In the USA, through the 1960s, the flight attendants actually GAVE cigarettes to passengers! Or mini-packs of them were placed on food trays that were provided to every passengers, including children. I personally received cigarettes this way as a kid in the 1960s, which is insane.

Die Browns hatten immerhin genug Geld um 3x FirstClass zu fliegen. Als Jimmy zum Führerstand gebracht wird bekommen wir ja einen Einblick in die Holzklasse. Heute nennt sich das glaub ich Economy .....Viele Passagiere auf kleinstem Raum = Umsatzmaximierung.

War eine bessere Zeit für die Lufthansa. Der Nazi-Vergangenheit hatte man sich gerade durch eine Neugründung elegant entledigt ..

Damals waren Flugreisen noch etwas ganz besonderes und Besserbetuchten vorbehalten

Notice the difference in class in people then versus today! They were clean and beautiful then vs.what you see today (Men in suits and ties and woman in dresses with high heels! ) Today you see t-shirts stinky people with blue jeans. Soft shell rubber soul sneakers or sweat pants, don't you? For you see the last 65 years. The world government has dumb down class in people to where they are no more than flying cattle car buses today! It was far better back then, I wish i could leave the classless present and go back to the late forties and fifties and slam the door on the present! IT WAS BETTER THEN! ❤️
