UCF vs. Cincinnati | 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship Highlights | May 21, 2024

Highlights from eighth-seeded UCF's 6-5 (11 inn.) win over fifth-seeded Cincinnati in the first round of the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship. The Knights were led by a 4-for-6, three home run, four-RBI performance from Danny Neri that helped secure the Knights’ win over the Bearcats.

Neri is the first player in Championship history to hit three home runs in a single game.

The Knights got on the board early with a sacrifice fly to center field from Lex Boedicker in the top of the first inning to bring home Matt Prevesk for an RBI. With a homer in the top of the second inning from Neri, the Knights increased their lead to 2-0.

Continuing their momentum, the Knights scored in the top of the third inning with an RBI single by Jack Zyska, earning him his 44th RBI on the season and sending Matt Cedarburg home safely to extend UCF's lead to 3-0.

After Cincinnati escaped to the top of the fourth with Seth Logue preventing further damage. Christian Mitchelle added to the response with an RBI double to left center with advancement to third due to an error, resulting in Hunter Jessee going home.

UCF expanded its lead at the top of the seventh inning with a two-run homer from Neri, achieving the first multi-homerun game of his career to bring the lead to 5-1.

To shorten the lead for the Bearcats, Max Palmieri hit an RBI double to right field to bring home Mitchelle, making it a 5-2 game in the eighth inning.

In the bottom of the ninth, Cincinnati tied the score 5-5 with three RBI singles. After a scoreless 10th inning, both teams proceeded to the 11th inning where Neri hit his record-setting third home run.

Junior Dom Stagliano pitched the first four innings for the Knights, giving up three hits, one run, and three strikeouts. Junior Dominic Castellano pitched 2.2 innings with one hit and three strikeouts. Redshirt sophomore Kris Sosnowski pitched two innings with three hits, one run and tied his career-high of four strikeouts. Redshirt senior Spencer Bauer (W, 2-1) pitched 1.1 innings with two hits and Redshirt senior Kyle Kramer (Save, 2) pitched one inning with one hit and one strikeout.

Bearcat freshman Carson Marsh (L, 4-3) threw 0.1 innings with one hit.
