Game of Thrones - How to Ruin a Great Show

I just rewatched all of GoT and it brought me here. It's seemingly universal how far this show slipped from grace.

I will never forgive them for the way they handled littlefinger. Arguably the smartest person on the show thinks he can turn sisters against each other with the explanation: "look she has a nice knife, ergo she will want to kill you (literally the only sane family member she has left) because she desperately wants to rule winterfell (we are talking about arya who never once showed the slightest interest of becoming lady of winterfell)". It's idiotic. Littlefinger should have been in the endgame with a big chance of actually getting the throne, but he never even came close.
Secondly the white walkers. We have a supernatural being that looks awesome, scary and mysterious, is shown to be smart and has been built up since literally the very first scene of the show all for their motive to be...we just want everything to be dead. No why or how, no, nothing just everyone needs to die. It's like creating an evil character when you're in elementary school. Uninspired crap.
I think the ending would work better if it wasn't an ending but just a season finale with room for more. But then again the would probably mess it up more from there anyway. At least house of the dragon looks promising.

Best TV serie ever. Stop.

Imagine for just a moment if bran warged back in time, and the whole "burn them all" thing was the mad king experiencing his own hodor moment. Imagine if that somehow connected jaime and the mad king and completed his redemption arc.

So. Much. Wasted. Potential.

The books are always going to be very different from the movies, however me not really paying attention to each book is most likely why i enjoyed the ending. For example, Harry Potter movies…The books had way more detail and in the movies they left out so much but that doesn’t mean it’s over. They are going to supposedly make a television series out of it. I’m honestly glad the characters who survived, survived at the end of got Look at House of dragon. They are continuing a awesome story and the writer from the books is a huge part of this adaption. For those who are not happy with the ending, have faith🙏

This show was terrible as soon as it went off book. Shit writers with no mental life prevail.

I would always rather take the unfinished (so far) but amazing book series over the finished, absolute shit show. Jesus, did they just fail at every single point, they stopped even trying to adapt the books and seem to think they could write better than GRRM. Sometimes words just fail me.

I disagree on the Cersei thing, the Sparrows were a perfect foil for her because the high Sparrow couldnt be corrupted or manipulated through her regular tactics, that's why she had to blow them up, although it would've been more interesting to see her face more consequences as a result of such a bold move but i do think it makes sense why ahe would do it.

When I read the books I just skip the Dany chapters.

Calling it a weird fanfiction is the best way to describe D&D's later seasons without the source material.

Seasons 1--6, 10 episodes each. Season 7, 7 episodes. Season 8, 6 episodes. In total, they could have 7 additional more episodes, which would enough time to develop the plot and make a great end.

I very recently binged the show for the first time, i coudlnt get past the first episode of season 8, not kidding you i thought it was exadurated but no, it was absolutely atrocious

Little finger moved Sansa stark from King's landing to Winterfell. They were seen by several people on the road but somehow, the red keep never got to hear about it

I'm so mad, its unbelievable. If i could travel back in time i would meet D&D and force them to change the season 8 and make an season 9 to not rush everything. Yes i would change the fucking timeline for this. I would literally torture them to change the Series. Holy shit the ending was bad.

I thought when Danerys started incineration people was a foreshadowing of her being the mad queen.

The show runners straight rushed to end it because they were set to make Star Wars movies. They fucked GOT up so bad that they lost Star Wars

The idea that Daenerys has some mental instability that is genetic makes perfect sense to me, especially since most royalty would inbreed which lead to many genetic issues

The saddest part was it was probably the best produced media production to this day, from the acting to its visuals. But the writing was straight out of a high school classroom. Such wasted potential.

The final two seasons were just cashing in on the cashcow. Fan service was the ONLY reason Aria killed the NK.. "Fans like Aria so lets get her laid, show her naked and make her the hero"

I think D&D are great people to write already written source material. I would love to see them make the percy jackson franchise. D&D can bring their specific skills too good use there.

Jon definitely needed to kill the Night King, he was built up to be the prince who was promised the entire show, Arya was a cop out and made her character even worse

the fact that Dany lost a dragon fighting with the Night King was not enough for her TO NOT FORGET THE FLEET, i mean they ruined the character cuz she loved her dragons. Also there was little remorse on dragons death she just moved on, THATS TOTALLY NOT DANY.
Another thing they ruined about her character was her compassion and love for people, at the end she just went like a madman totally not like her. Her whole point of taking the Seven Kingdoms was to achieve this purpose and the end she was hanging around begging Jon to not tell anyone cuz she JUST WANTED THE THRONE.
THAT WAS NOT HERRRR AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny how Sansa's hole purpose was to call for little finger during the battle of the bastars. Before and after that, she is completely useless.

as someone who bingewatched Lost in a depressive state for 3 weeks, the characters were not ended better than GoT.

At least in GoT, I roughly understood their motivations. In Lost, every character becomes a pawn for the plot to the detriment of the story

Literal and figurative… Ligerative? Figural?

Dany was insane from the beginning. I was predicting her losing her marbles literally in season 2, her behaviour from day 1 has been sadistic, self serving and caused much pain. She lives by a “2 wrongs make a right” philosophy, anyone who couldn’t see she was batshit crazy from the start we’re just willingly blind.

She enjoys watching people suffer. No matter what those people did, seeking out to cause suffering of others for your own enjoyment is psychotic. The way Dany played out was the only thing that was consistent and shown from the start.

I wonder if they’ll ever do a reboot

The characters didn't drop 20 iq points but way more. Petyr baelish used to be cooking and scheming the most diobalical and brilliant plans you never saw coming to literally doing nothing. Like you totally forgot he was a thing. It feels like he has a crush on sansa and stopped climbing the "ladder of chaos". The show just decided to character assasinate him just like stannis, varys and many more unnecessary and pointless death who cut the story short

"I'm sure in a few years, we'll get the real, official ending"

Though I really can't disagree with the overall criticism this guy is too smug for words. When he writes something better than Game of Thrones get back to us. And why the cosmonaut? I didn't know Turner was a Russian name.

I also just hate the order the final events unfolded in: the series opens with the Whitewalkers. They're presented continually as this big, overarching threat, and all the bickering over the crown is foolish in the face of this massive threat to EVERYONE that they should be teaming up to face....but we battle the Night King FIRST and then go have the battle at King's Landing AFTER THAT?? Should have had that battle first (and better), only to have the Whitewalkers show up when everyone's weakened and have it all go to hell in that classic, creative GRRM way. I'm just waiting for the books to give us the actually satisfying ending.
