Impacted Wisdom Tooth Removal

Just had mine done this morning had four 2 impact lets just say after is shit to 😂in terms of pain

For anyone getting this surgery and having anxiety about it: I got this surgery yesterday (as of the posting date) on all four wisdom teeth and it went off without a hitch. I had an IV sedation with Propofol, so the surgery was basically just a nice short nap for me. I was asleep the whole time and felt nothing, and I don't even remember leaving the clinic; I woke up at home. The only side effect from the sedatives was dizziness that only lasted about half an hour. The pain and swelling peaks around the 2nd day, but mostly goes away after that. Prescription Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen takes care of the pain, and the swelling is not only reduced by Ibuprofen, but it'll also go away with some help from a bag of frozen vegetables that I hold to my cheeks. My surgeon was really great too, we briefly went back and forth about bowling before it started. He even called me the day after the surgery to make sure I was okay. And I'm getting to eat lots of shakes and ice cream this week. :D

I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, one of them impacted through IV sedation. It's completely painless, and if you take medicine as prescribed and wait to brush until your doctor says it's safe, you'll be fine and have a recovery with minimal pain.

I do have a wisdom tooth in the rear of my lower left jaw that has fully come out at a odd angle towards the tooth infront of it.

I think my dentist is aware of it, even though there`s no clear signs of it causing any issues.

Wisdom teeth surgery is nothing to worry about. I got mine removed years ago and I’m just now getting feeling back in my left arm!

So can I clarify what type of anasthetic options there are? 1) simple injections to gum to numb them and then go 2) happy gas which makes you all drowsy and numb or injections as well to gum? Or 3) knock you out completely. Im super anxious about needles but beside that dont fancy hearing the cracking and pulling. What option?

My appointment to have my wisdom teeth taken out is tomorrow. I've been under IV sedation before so I'm not nervous but I am a bit anxious. Here's hoping my post op recovery is smooth.

Funny thing with my wisdom tooth is that it looks completely fine but the tooth next to it or one of the two next to it is impacted . They are still figuring out the best approach to get it corrected but it may involve invasilign

Had mine final 3 removed yesterday, I couldn’t take the constant bruising and jamming of my mouth anymore and I had similar experience last time a year ago but they only removed one cause I didn’t have the money. Left work 2 hours into a 12 hour shift, drove 2 hours away to get a same day emergency extraction. They could not put me under cause it wasn’t an oral surgeon or what not, but they were also backed cause it’s holiday season. Anyways, I got them out, the local anesthesia didn’t work, I had NOS and still I felt every shot immensely. After numbing he worked on my upper ones first and they each came out no problem within 30 seconds no pain just pushing. The bottom right one took 30 minutes of constant pushing, prying, drilling, pain, more anesthesia and i felt those new shots too which meant i really wasn’t numb. I’m awake the whole time while they’re confused about why i’m not numb as I should. They just continue anyways really fast and try to drill and pry harder and faster. It worked, but I bled the entire drive back home from the bottom tooth alone and it just had so much trauma that when what did work of the local anesthesia wore off it was hell and I cried and passed out from the pain eventually. Orajel, vicodin, nothing helped that first day, if your stuff is really impacted like mine was it’s gonna hurt, 25 y/o male btw and my gf helped significantly through the whole process so i’m grateful for that too and today has been a real breeze honestly. Sore as hell, wish I could chew and eat a McRib she got me one and they just came back, but it’s impossible lol, just swallowing everything lately. Mac and cheese, wolf chili, ice cream, shaved ice been my besties lately.

I have all four wisdom teeth and they perfectly set normally like if there just a normal sets of teeth

Since my second molar has huge cavity. Would it make sense to extract the second molar and the wisdom teeth will have all the room to grow ?

i just had all 4 of my teeth taken out yesterday while i was awake and it was so much better than i thought it would be, if you are scared and can't be put to sleep DONT BE it will be so much more alleviating. honestly just prepare for the immediate pain after and say goodbye to all your fav foods for 2-4 weeks :(

My dad has all of his wisdom teeth. He got lucky and they came in straight 😅

My dentist is proposing three administration of IV sedation, each at 15 minute intervals, for extraction of two lower wisdom teeth. Each IV sedation administration cost $225, totaling $775. My thinking is that IV sedation is administered once in the beginning of the procedure. Is that correct?

I never had my wisdom teeth pulled, I'm 44. My doctor said I have enough room for them and I have no problem brushing and flossing them. Ive never had any problems whatsoever. I guess I'm lucky and you could say I have a big mouth.

Just had all 4 of mine removed today. I just did mine under local with no sedation. I’m an ex dental nurse so I wasn’t anxious about the procedure. But when they gave me the local it was the wildest feeling my body immediately reacted to the shot which tbh I wasn’t expecting and my heart rate went up like crazy and I got the shakes. Lucky after all 10 injections I was fine a little disoriented but fine.

I can definitely understand why people would be scared of this tho. I’ve had an extraction in front of my mouth before but it was nothing compared to this. The pulling and pressure was way more intense and noises of the bone cracking is definitely not for the faint of heart.

If I had no knowledge in the field prior I would have been scared ngl.

I feel like wisdom teeth are a special adaptation from ancient humans. It's not like cavemen had dentist. Most of the time in ancient times wisdom teeth didn't matter because people had already lost teeth. Especially in the middle ages.

Some people dont need to extract, just want to make it clear so you dont go out and order a surgery

i have one fully through the gum but not fully grown yet n im so scared even tho it hasnt affected me yet😭😭

My dentist said I have to get my wisdom teeth out and I’m scared cause I never had surgery before on my teeth.

to anybody that is worried, don’t be! i got all four of mine out and they were impacted. healed up super good and pretty quick, my only problem was nobody told me the IV hurts your arm a little bit lol

My wisdom teeth gave me crooked teeth

I just had my 2 wisdom teeth removed yesterday. The surgery was smooth and I only felt pain when the local anesthesia was injected. I’m now on my day 2 and haven’t felt any pain at all.

I had my wisdoms taken out and a frenectomy last week im in pain 😭

My first lower right wisdom teeth removal was when I was 28. This morning at the age of 36 I had to extract lower left wisdom teeth along with the front of it, second molar. The process took around 1 hour. 2nd molar was the hardest to remove but it went well.

Mine were impacted and it was awful. Luckily, my recovery wasn’t terrible. My recommendation for everyone who is having problems is get them pulled all at once.

Im 43 years old Hate the dentist. Pulled 4 of my own wisdom teeth out due to lack of access in a third world country at the time. That wasnt fun but it was instant relief as soon as I smashed them with a screw driver and hammer. Got the chunks out over the next week or so Lots of H2O2 washes and rinses. But now all of a sudden Im having massive pain and it turns out Im one of the lucky morons who has 2 EXTRA sets of wisdom teeth and have to get them out. They are incredibly painful. Watching this video makes me hope my mouth has turned into this digital rendering over the last 15 years since it all looks so nice and straightforward.

I have three / 4 wisdom teeth two top one bottom bottom right is partially erupted and possibly impacted, staring to be uncomfortable depending on the day. I am very scared of oral surgery and it has been my biggest source of anxiety for a while. I recreationally use the green stuff and am worried that because of that I will have trouble with Laughing gas or something. Maaaaan I have no idea where it came from since my mom was a hygienist and my sister is studying to become a dentist but I am very uncomfortable by oral surgery and sometimes even general practice dentistry has given me a lot of anxiety

Got my left side taken out last week, both were impacted and was a very hard procedure according to the dentist's. 2 days later the pain got worse and had to go back. Long story short it somehow got infected and ended up having to be put on antibiotics and crazy pain meds, its 10 days now and since they were removed and they are almost fully healed other than the holes in my gums but they are slowly getting smaller day by day. After this experience im not sure if i want to get the other side done now because i feel like its going to happen all over again. Worst pain ive ever felt, it felt like my face was going to blow up

I've been waiting for my wisdom tooth to be taken out for over a year . Bad pain comes every few weeks , recently past few days it's been so bad I have barely slept and can't barely keep still the pain gets so bad . I was referred to hospital by my dentist over a year ago , rang hospital yesterday and they claim they have no record of the reference so I'm back to the start . Waiting list is over 35 weeks and no emergency doctors are available to operate on me . This is UK one of the supposed richest countries in the world , you get better healthcare in places like Turkey or Lithuania it is beyond a fkin joke man .
