ОтветитьKiller Joe is omposed by Benny Golson in 1960. The original version is by Benny and Art Farmer 1960. There's a spoken intro about the pimp Killer Joe. Quincy Jones's version is 1969.
In this Jazz Masters All Stars, I am disappointed with the soprano sax improvisation. But this is such a beautiful tune.
This is BEAUTIFUL!!
ОтветитьIt sounds like the jazz music you hear from movie scenes

Ответитьthis is the last of our original music. For the music. Form our pase setters. They are the first and will
not be the last to announce the goodness of the heavenly sounds of love. Let the music play until the birth of our souls continue to call for the continuing for peace on the earth. God bless the world. Ms Dorothy Triche

ОтветитьWe be blessed to have Benny still alive among us. A gem of a gentleman for the ages.
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite songs, and I thought this was a great performance. I really liked the soprano solo, and then how the trumpet picked it up. Really nice

ОтветитьFabulous.
ОтветитьFantastic! A real KILLER!
ОтветитьProof that Jon Faddis plays pretty boring solos when not in the upper register. Not bad, but felt pretty awkward on the bridge.
ОтветитьDr. Davis was a legendary educator. This is a gift. ✔︎☚

ОтветитьThe Terminal bought me here !
ОтветитьBENNY G! LEGEND
ОтветитьBenny, I sincerely believe this tune is the one that the Almighty will request of you when you're seen strolling into that irresistible sound, when it hits at the Pearly Gates club! It was a gift I'll always treasure, to have known you and helped you in some small way. I hope that the Jazz Messemgers and all the other jazz giants you communed with and missed so much, are all in their places, impatiently waiting for you to count off the downbeat. It was an honor to have walked this earth at a time that you lived, so that all we humans had to do to be uplifted to your world, was to walk in, sit down, open our ears and hear what you had to say. Godspeed my dear friend. Sending blessings of comfort, peace and strength to your wife and family. And may that next box of reeds be of divine origin in heaven!
