Fishing Knots: Double Uni Knot - How to Tie Braid to Fluorocarbon or Braid to Mono

If you want monofilament fishing line, you cannot go wrong with trilene. Been around for .ore than 50 yesrs... for good reason.

We landed this one from a dock with power pro 30.

Pro tip: it is actually recommended that you use double the amount wraps on your braided line than you do on your monofilament or fluorocarbon line. The main purpose for this is because braided line tends to slip more than monofilament or fluorocarbon line.

My recommendation and what I personally do is 5 wraps on the monofilament or fluorocarbon line and 10 wraps on the braided line. I find if I do any less than that the leader line tends to break right off at monofilament or fluorocarbon side.

Anyway, I hope this helps out some people if they're having problems with their leader line breaking right off when they are reeling a fish in like I had a problem with initially before I learned this.

Nice presentation but I’ve used the standard double uni knot for years with no problems.

Just a thought I had, would two clinch knots work for leader to tippet?

Simple, Easy & as strong as I need.
The FG is hard to do with small diameter lines ( In my opinion)

I want too thank you for this video i have my braid line and I was running low on the reel and I had a lot left on the round thing the line comes on I was able to reconnect both braid lines together to make it back in 1 braided line hopefully I don't lose another lure fishing thanks again help me save a few bucks I got my first cold fall largemouth bass last night 4.40 lbs 😁👍👍👍👍

Just a tip, dont cinch your knot down until you pull the lines together.

Finally someone explained this properly and with a great technique. The "flipping the knot around" move before you tie the mono to braid knot is what made the difference for me in successfully tying this knot! THANK YOU!!!

I tie left and right handed, so the direction of wraps don't necessarily have to be the same. Thanks for a clear demonstration.

Too much work when an Alberto would have sufficed

By far the best knot to tie when in adverse conditions either windy or real rough water. It doesn’t go through guides as good as some other knots but it is strong and reliable !!

The Double Uni Knot is one of the WORST fishing knots to tie Braid to a leader. For similar size lines, the Crazy Alberto knot is faster and easier to tie plus almost twice as strong. For tying braid to heavy leaders the FG knot is the only way to go.
