In market chemical available for making matter odor less..
If we put that chemical in pan before putting pan downside of patient, that makes care taker work little easy..

What if the patient is not strong enough to lift his or her self up

I met an accident yesterday, and on bed rest for a month. Fractured my pelvis bone. I followed exactly the same, and now after seeing this video I am happy that I have basic sense....and thanks for the video, many people panic and not sure what needs to be done during such a situation.

The bedpan should be cleansed in the cr, not in the same faucet used for washing hands, brushing teeth, etc.😅

Are u sure that your patient lying can clean everything under????? And the pan with the poop was not cleaned with soap? Really???

Just how does a patient wipe their own bottom laid on a bedpan???? In my experience there is virtually no room to maneuver.

I put the chuck pad on the bedpan so when they done it’s no spillage the urine is soaked in the chuck pad or the bowel movement is on the pad all u gotta do is remove the bedpan from under patient and throw the chuck away no mess and I clean the patient afterwards. Sometimes patients can’t lift u will have to turn them and place the bed pan under them then roll or turn them back and then I raise there head some

You should show the technic to clean the butt after you remove bedpan, it is unrealistic

Without hip raises, it is soooo much harder.

thank you for this video. I'm curious what state this is? We were just taught that after you touch the bedpan, remove your 1st set of gloves. Do not touch anything, the bed controls, wipes, TP, with the gloved hands we used to position the bedpan. Do you have a response please.

What do you do if the patient cannot bridge? If the patient is elderly and has no strength to bridge? I really need to know this to help my dad

I know some people put toilet paper in bedpans or commodes to make it easier for #2 to fall off into the toilet, but does anyone have any tips for measuring urine output when the bedpan also has #2 in it? I wouldn't put toilet paper in the bed pan if i need to measure urine output. Do you kind of just tilt the bedpan and try not to let the #2 fall in the measuring cylinder?
Or does anyone have any tips to make it easier to clean up? I'm barely starting out and having a hard time with the sight and smell

I worked at a facility that didn’t use any of these.. they let them go in the bed pad 🥴 their theory is that it prevents the breakdown of the skin.

Another facility had bedpans but everyone(including the RNs) were putting them under the patients backwards 😅

When Ihad foot surgery Ihad to use bedpan for the first two days and I could lift myself hips up for the bedpan.. So it depends on each patient. Sometimes for example a caregiver isnt strong enough to help them up so if they can make a bridge and pee on a bedpan itll be easier for them too

How about if the person cannot move? Or after the person had bowel movement I know for sure it need to be clean and wipe very well so I guess you skept the last step like everybody else
