Hi Egor, thank you for the video. I was wondering if you applied to any internships during your second year at university? What about graduate schemes? Was your first role a grad scheme? Thanks.

Hi! How old are you? I studied some years of physics too, I left because I started to study another career in the university. But I looked at data science and I falled in love, and I instantly started to study. I stopped the career so I can study Data science. I have all the basics in math, Calculus and Integration. Thank you for the good video, you have a new subscriber.

I cant get any interviews as they all reject my application saying they want people with experience. I just graduated Masters in Data science, but what good is it if people dont take me ?

Your background sounds a lot like mine :) I'm five years into being a civil engineer and just now recognizing that it's not for me... but nonetheless, it's really inspiring to hear how you got into this field. I'm currently in the process of studying and learning data analysis in hopes to venture into a similar field of work. Thank you for posting this video because it gives me hope that I am making the right decision :)

> No CS Degree, No Bootcamp

Yet you still had very strong mathematics and statistics background at a university level. Good luck to the people seeing this that don't have that background. Their best option is to go do an undergraduate and pick up those skills, otherwise no chance.

Don't underestimate the strong problem solving skills you develop in undergraduate and graduate level STEM program.

Is it really that important to know the math really well? How important would you say it is?

Data scientist is just a title, it is more interesting what type of work you will be doing. I know "data scientists" who do tableau and power point all day, I also know data scientists who implement machine learning models in C++. Don't focus so much on the title figure out what you want to do.

So sick and tired of people peddling this "Become a computer scientist in 6 months" garbage for views. You MIGHT get a job, but in 6 months you are not a computer scientist. It's bad advice. Fact is, most people do need time and training. And one more thing, if you insist that you are ARE a computer scientist in zero to 6 months, I would argue you that you are probably not a very good one.

Hello Egor, I am really fortunate that I have found your channel. I have 7 years of experience as a DBA and then as a SQL developer. And after that, I have a master's degree in computer science from Germany. But till now, I have failed to get a full-time job in this field. Thanks for pointing out that 'it is a game of numbers'. Thanks, Egor.

Hi, I am also a physicist (finished my Ph.D. recently in theoretical physics) and will start a DS job soon. I resonate with you on physics not being like what I imagined during my school time. During my school days, I used to solve hard physics problems based on Newtonian mechanics but research is quite different from school or even college physics. Now I realize that what I liked was the problem-solving part of physics and not necessarily the physics itself. The problem solving part in college/real world is done within CS domain and not physics. I don't regret my PhD but i should have explored more during my UG. Nice video !

Hey! Quite an informative video! I'm in my final year of electronics and Communication engineering. Sad to say it took me 4 years to conclude that this field wasn't for me. I've been exploring data science and am really interested in getting into this! Just little overwhelmed to be honest, with how much competition there is! But I'm not gonna give up! Thanks for the resources and for sharing youe experience. Just a question:
I already have the python and r knowledge along with calculus due to my engineering background so I wanted to ask, what is your opinion on these data science courses offered by training institutes (3-6 months) that claim to get you placed and such? I do believe that the content might be good but they are incredibly expensive.

I did my Masters in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from UK back in 2021 and my psw is also about to expire, yet I couldn't get any job yet. I applied to 850+ companies and couldn't get any interview call yet. 2 or 3 rejected me due to reluctance of giving sponsorship to me. I don't know what I should be doing now

It seems being a Data scientist can be quite interesting!!
Even though I have literally no knowledge in computer science...
I want to learn this.
I have like 4-5 months left in my hand...
Do you think I should pursue a career in data science if I start to learn computer and all other stuffs you mentioned??
