Absolute rubbish.
Not once did you flick your hair, do a sexy dance, bat your eyelashes, or over-use effects on a drop.
You need to learn how to be a DJ mate, I suggest watching some Paris Hilton sets for tips.

There's an elememnt to DJing where you do things for your motivation, or to keep you switched on. If you just swapped tracks about and stood there waiting to cue the next track it would be shit, and you'd be shit.

Do you have the crossfader flipped? Why does it look like the mixer's all the way on channel 1 when only the turntable on the right is playing?

People who say DJs don’t do anything are the same people that say metal screaming is easy and anyone can do it, both are very hard to master

so, the knob thing is a combination of technical refinement and tick. Maybe 80% technical, 20% tick/showmanship 😅

Hey Arman, just wanted to say. DJing has been a childhood dream of mine. I have watched this video for fun all the time for the last 8 years because of how insightful it was, and last week I finally started DJing myself. None of my friends can believe that I immediately knew exactly what to do the first try, and neither could I until I realized that I had visually retained everything this video taught me. I can't express my gratitude enough for this video, I just played my first show last night and got overwhelmingly positive response. Thanks so much for your talent Arman 💖

@EMarSounds
@EMarSounds - 13.06.2023 20:47

The talent aspect of djing went out the window when cd decks came out. Don't get me wrong, I've watched a lot of famous djs mix vinyl back in the day, then switch to newer technologies like cd decks, and I still really enjoyed it. When vinyl was the main format, you actually had to use the skills you tough yourself to keep beats matched, by constantly controlling the pitch which set the speed/tempo of each record, eventually you'd learn how to keep the tempos matched without toughing the vinyl so much, that takes skill and it doesn't come natural to everyone. With cd decks you don't need to do any of these tasks to keep the beets matched. When you're in a club and you're hearing the best music you ever heard, honestly nobody cares how it's been mixed or what the performer is using to mix it. 90% of "djs" will sell their decks once they hit their late teens, because the buzz is gone and they're not that famous dj they thought they might become. Remember this the next time you look at any dj on a set of cd decks, when people around them think they're the best thing since sliced bread. They might have great taste in music, but they lack any real talent. Imagine trying to get your gran to use a touch screen phone instead of buttons, not gonna happen, now imagine trying to get a kid to switch from cd decks back to using vinyl, they won't want to know.

No, what a real DJ does is Scratch, you are simple mixing music on live.

@andrewdickinson1981 - 04.07.2023 07:05

DJing has always been how well you actually know the music. Making transitions that are pleasing to the ear. Even on vinyl it's easy to beat match, but making two or three tunes go together seamlessly is the art. Too many knob twiddlers now.

If you want to be a Dj you just go and do it. If you really want to be successful you got to become fearless ! What other people think is irrelevant… i see and hear so many great artists getting trash talk merely because of pure jealousy! Everyone will laugh when you start until you become great or maybe world famous… then the envy and jealousy will ramp up. Don’t think it could be only friends that act that way, it also can be family. It’s sad but that doesn’t say something about you. Just keep going and let them hate you. You’re not here on this planet to please everyone and not everyone is going to like you perhaps. So what! Play for you and the people who are truly there for you… people will always have their judgment ready wether you succeed or not so why not succeed !

Every DJ should work at a Nightclub that expects you to be able to make the cash box full. I knew DJ that would play groovy House when there was a who dance floor full of Leather Daddies, with arms crossed, so dumb.

tbh this video got me started in using traktor pro and now i'm teaching djing to kids and others so they know that the true skill can be found in the flow created, and the music selection given by the pasion of sharing music.

cheers!

So a DJ is like mixing musics and beats on the fly, like improv? I mean, if it's not on the fly impov the track can be pre-recorded right?
