I’ve always hated exercise, and admittedly I am rather large. This clicked for me I think, the focus on something like an outdoor sport and being fun rather than showing up at a gym every morning to repeat the same tasks feels, like I could see myself doing it. Time to research fun activities that gets the heart pumping and the sweat flowing.
Doesn’t help that my mother was a trainer for her high school football team and she very much pushed against me getting into contact sports at a young age, and I didn’t really combat that either, makes me wonder what I could have been if I had been in athletics at a young age.
Thank-you for making these papers easier to understand Dr. Barkley. Regarding the circadian rhythm study, if ASD and ADHD are correlated with different sleep problems, what happens when they are co-morbid?
ОтветитьThank you for the video, it helps a lot.
ОтветитьI've had 6 concussions and now I can't help but wonder if they have been part of why it feels as though my ADHD is worse at 26 than it was at 16 🤔
ОтветитьThe name of the study is 'Infant microbes and metabolites point to childhood neurodevelopmental disorders"
ОтветитьOutdoor exercise? 🤔 Could it perhaps be the vitamin D-thing that actually links up here?
ОтветитьDr. Barkley-there is a lot of noise on social media about if you take ADHD medication to treat ADHD, that you can no longer ‘mask’ and your autism will present readily (if you have it). Is there any truth to this?
ОтветитьI have a question is the emotional dysregulation of ADHD about all emotions like depression and anxiety or not and would it make your anxiety disorder even worse than it already is ????
ОтветитьHello from AUS - today was my first day on vyvance, it’s currently 4:43 in the morning and am NOT tired 😅
I was wondering if it would be possible for you to do a video explaining/clarifying and otherwise operationalising accidental injury?
I only ask because I am a graduate counselling student with ADHD who has both accidentally stabbed herself with a knife and accidentally crashed a car. Of course one only ever accidentally crashes the car - that got me curious as to how accidental injury is operationalised as a construct for study.
Anyway thanks for reading!
Thank you for the dad jokes, thank you for the research!!! It helps a lot!!
Ответитьbabe wake up, new Russ Barkley weekly updates just dropped
ОтветитьThe circadian rhythm study - were the ADHD patients treated with stimulants?
ОтветитьNice study on dspd. I recommend mouth taping for improved sleep. Also Doctor you are too much in our right ear.
ОтветитьAdhd can be treated with homeopathy
ОтветитьMuch appreciate your life’s work… Thank you.☺️
ОтветитьQuestion: when researching braindamages, are there ever efforts made trying to find out whether the damages are "self-inflicted" by accidents caused by carelessness or by violence from others för example family members? Are there any sex differences? I know that you have spoken about that both can be causes of brain injuries, but I haven't heard that the perspective is brought in to the kind of studies you talked about today. Thank you for yet another interesting summary.
ОтветитьThanks again Russ
ОтветитьI think that dad jokes are funny, too.
ОтветитьI'd like to see a study on ADHD and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. At my Academy, the stereotype is that neurodivergent academics easily get hooked on the sport because of the amount of problem solving involved. I hadn't been diagnosed with ADHD when I started BJJ but a reason that I've stuck with it is the way my brain goes silent when I'm sparring with someone.
ОтветитьThank you as always. Just to play devil's advocate here, does the study indirectly making a case for ADHS Symptoms because of PTSD given the changes that PTSD does to the devolving white matter brain ? See meta analyse here doi: 10.1016/j.nicl.2018.05.013
ОтветитьRecently “re-diagnosticated” Living the anger and sadness of the grief . How can you tell which part of your personality is an adhd symptom or truly part of your self? Identity crisis mode on 🙈😖
ОтветитьI'm from the UK, recently diagnosed with ADHD and in my 50's. I have just started getting my life together. Thanks for keeping us informed, Dr Barkley. Have a good weekend.
ОтветитьThe largest mass murderer lass year, the shooter in Maine, had tons of damage to his white matter, due to repeated exposure to explosions in his role in the military. The largest mass shooter in the United States, the Vegas shooter, was taking benzodiazipines, which he had prescribed while refusing all other medications, when benzodiazipines are linked with higher suicidality and loss of impulse control. The NRA once tried to link ADHD medications with mass shootings, but mainly as a way to point away from gun manufacturers themselves. The Texas watchtower shooter infamously had a brain growth about the size of a pecan affecting his thoughts. I know you have discussed ADHD and prison populations before, and I wonder at times about what the status of research in connection to medications and psychiatric state with criminality is, particularly with the chilling effect the DONE arrests are going to have. I can walk to a liquor store, but for ADHD medications I have to go through a half dozen steps and hope the government decided quota allotments correctly this year. I have several TBIs in my development history and have closely observed their connection to both suicide and homicide. Simultaneously, when stimulants are used as a drug of abuse, principally the methamphetamine abuser, they are known to have their own negative stories associated.
ОтветитьThe five toes joke was a good one; nice delivery.
Also, I named my cat Barkley. Hope that's not weird!
