Taylor Sheridan is an exceptionally talented man. His screenplays for Sicario and Hell or High Water won awards and his direction and story of Wind River is superb. There are many moments of profound dramatic acting here. When the father opens the door, sees his friend and his face crumbles in pain. Renner's declaration, " That's a warrior. " The father telling Renner, " If you find out who did this, I don't care WHO it is. You understand me? " Renner replies, " Right where they stand. " Excellent film!

Must give credit to Jim Jordon who played Pete. He did an incredible job of making you hate everything about him. Especially in this scene, he also did some incredible acting.

“Six miles. Barefoot. That’s a warrior.” The monster responsible couldn’t even make it 50 yards.

watched this movie yesterday, and honestly shoutout to James Jordan, who plays Pete here. He made the character so shockingly revolting - what i felt for him reminded me of Joffrey from GoT. But he did it in under ten minutes of screentime.

Saw the movie again yesterday. The seventh anniversary of its premiere was yesterday.

I almost never fully appreciated the film before. But it's such a beautiful story about pain, family, life, accepting and dealing with the harder things it brings. About solitude and loneliness.

And acting is so good, especially Renner. He has never been better than here.

So sad how in America pretty white women that are missing always make the news but not missing Native American women or other women of color. I’m glad this movie shows just how fucked up it is that this problem is ignored.

I suffer from severe tinnitus which makes my ears very sensitive to loud noise.
So when Jeremy fire his rifle right at Pete’s ear.
That moment REALLY makes me cringe.
Pete didn’t deserve a quick death anyway.

If he ran downward would he have lived

Also when he shot him I think he wanted him scared so the cold could plus the adrenaline would pump in his lungs so that he die faster

Yeah, I think this is a bit of dramatic license used here in the movie to have the villain die in this method. The extremely low temperatures needed to cause a death like this probably would not have been met here. Its mid-day on a sunny day, they are pretty much at tree line (so probably less than 12,000 ft.) and judging from the crunch of the snow, it's actually relatively warm. You can't even see their breath when they're speaking. It would have taken hours for this guy to die due to the exposure.
