Interesting and comprehensive review as always, Chris! In your opinion, if you were a 100% stills only, landscape, and small product photographer, which MF system do you think would work best (Hasselblad X2D or Fujifilm GFX 100 II), emphasis on lens sharpness and detail rendition, assuming one shoots 100% tripod-mounted, and 10 second self timer for optimum sharpness? (For wildlife. I use a Nikon Z8 with the NIkkor Z 180-600 f/5.6-6.3, so I'm not necessarily seeking "speed" in a potential MF System.) Thank you sir!
ОтветитьPretty sure the top screen is a regular LCD, not OLED? That silver sheen is pretty distinctive.
e: yeah, Fuji website: 2.09 inch Monochrome LCD Monitor
only the EVF is OLED
Actually pretty surprised that you haven't made / gotten someone to make you a linear ccd scanner camera for when you test the sharpness and contrast of lenses ( since they can have a megapixel count of about 489mp ( truly showing off there sharpness) and true 48 bit colors witch is way more then any other camera have )
Ответитьwell done man! finally
oh you just said a loan !!
:(
well consider getting one and start reviewing lenses and take that load off my shoulders.
I always look for your vids first for seing lenses performance :)
and you deserve it way better
,
Hello Chris, great video, loved seeing you testing that giant sensor. Btw would you consider to test micro 4/3 cameras and lenses maybe?
ОтветитьIs the sensor always exposed to dust? No mechanical shutter to close & protect it, at least during lens changes?
Ответитьwhy you never review about micro four third cameras or lenses?
ОтветитьIf dynamic range performance is my sole criteria (and absolutely critical one), then is upgrading to a MF camera the only option I have? Or will a (say) 42mp FF with a top of the line lens get the job done? I use an A7R-III and GM lenses. Wondering if shifting to this camera (plus 1-2 XF lenses) is worth the experience of lugging something this heavy. And not to mention the heavy files that’ll fill up my iCloud Drive. Thanks in advance :)
Ответить100mpx photos taken with GF80mm is a joy to look at
ОтветитьI have the GFX 100, 100s, 100II and all but two of the GF lenses. I have shot and posted on Flickr thousands full size jpegs for free if you want to see some GFX IQ. I like GFX because the image fidelity surpasses anything out there (well, GFX and Hassy do). I've never shot a second of video on any of the GFX gear. This review is extremely well done. I like the in-hand camera views and functions that are all the way through the video. Good synopsis of the strengths and weaknesses of GFX. You are correct when you said "Narrower than ever DOF." That is one of the biggest things about shooting GFX compared to FF or APSC. There is a lot less DOF. That can hurt you or help you. I often shoot landscapes at F11, moving into a bit of diffraction vs having a bunch of near or far OOF pixels whereas with my FF system I would shoot at F8 or wider. Fuji X (APSC)? The DOF just goes on forever.
ОтветитьNot sure about your conclusions on high ISO performance Chris. Unless this performs signigicantly worse than the original GFX100, this should quite easily beat out all FF sensors for low light image quality. Are you sure you've not fallen for the old 'zoom to 100% and compare' trick?
ОтветитьWow. This camera can produce some stunning images and it's gratifying to see it in the hands of someone with the talent to capture them. First time in a long time I've seen a new camera and been this impressed, the dynamic range and colours are gorgeous.
I love bokeh photography - the challenge level of contrasting soft blur with maximum focus on the subject makes the times where I succeed super satisfying, and it seems like this Fuji opens the door to more of that.
Great video. ❤
Glad to see you in the frame, Chris!
ОтветитьThank you! Great video.
ОтветитьThis was a brilliant review! Thank You, Christopher, for fulfilling my wish and reviewing the latest Fuji Medium format camera.
ОтветитьIt would be great if you could try the Fringer EF-GFX Pro auto focus adapter $500. We would be able to see how sigma art lenses and some tamrons behave on a GFX 100 ii.
Ответить"Medium Format" uhum
ОтветитьMoved to Gfx100s 2 months ago. Just love the images on it. I still have my a7rv, just kind of stick with the Fuji in controlled easy shoots and sony for anything speed or unpredictable is needed. I’m a happy dude
ОтветитьFuji GFX100 ii is an amazing camera, no doubt about it.
However I never made the leap due to the weight of the body + lens combo.
I stick with my Leica M and its tiny lenses.
Christopher, you are the first one I see mentioning these rubbish rubber flaps ! Bravo ! You have them on nearly every camera and no one, to my knowledge, ever complain about it. This is for me a major point for built quality. I also like very much the way you show the features filming it while you speak, at least we see things, again bravo ! I also love your "no compromise" judgement, well done. You are my reference for lenses tests, now I'll keep an eye also on your cameras tests.
ОтветитьOh does this mean we'll finally see some GF lens reviews? Your reviews are one of the things I miss after moving to GFX
ОтветитьThe flip out screen is for vloggers, who wouldn't be using this camera anyway. But for everything else this screen is fine... 8k medium format, even with a crop, looks tasty
ОтветитьA full frame Fuji would be incredible for vintage lenses shooters 😢
ОтветитьWhat do you think about Fuji's strategy (skipping full frame in favor of medium format)?
ОтветитьGood to hear that Chris, hope you get to test the full-frame lens on the GFX 100 II, it's something I've been looking forward to! ! !
ОтветитьDo a review on Olympus lenses!! Specifically the 12-100mm F/4 and the 75mm F/1.8....!!!!
ОтветитьWhen I see the video performance of the GFX, I cannot comprehend Fujifilm's marketing strategy. I fail to understand why the medium format has the most advanced video capabilities in the Fujifilm system, including squeeze recovery, when theoretically, APS-C format would be more suitable for video shooting. Does a higher price necessarily equate to more performance? I remain skeptical.
ОтветитьYou are a book example of "late to the party"... 😊😊😊😊😅😅Just kidfing, excellent review, as always...
Ответить💜🤤📸
ОтветитьYou are aware that when you shoot in continuous your bit rate drops from 16 down to 12
ОтветитьI dreamed of the day you reviewed something at 100MP. And I always wanted to see how good those lenses actually are
ОтветитьYou need to get your hands on a Phase next.
ОтветитьI was kinda ready to go buy an A7R5 tomorrow. I own a lot of GM glass and typically shoot video with FX cams. The problem is that I've never really grokked with Sony as a stills platform but did want to give it another go. I use my XE4 for stills presently.
Thank you for reminding me that Fuji Medium Format exists. I might just demo this one tbh.
As an aside, the AF test looks like 90's music video lmao.
Honestly when i hear that size an weight is an issue i cringe, and it's immediately a sign of someone that doesn't know wtf they are talking about.
This camera replaces the H system Hasselblad or the Phase One house cats. it has the same sensor size as a hasselblad h6d-50c, with 2 times the megapixels, yet it is less heavy than a Nikon d850!
so friking stop with the bullcrap, it's not heavy.
Awesome. Pls review the Leica medium format
Ответитьoh nice! congrats on the system!
ОтветитьSeeing you do these camera reviews is very refreshing, as you bring a different view and analysis (and pinch of salt 😊) from the other regulars.
So congrats for all this, and I look forward to your next work. As always! 😊
For me, the little screen on top of Fujifilm camera is the best among all the other brands.
ОтветитьBravo sir, great review
ОтветитьExcited to see some GF lens reviews. I picked up a 50S II over the holidays. I will mention that I had a problem with the 44x33 sensor being called "medium format" by Pentax, Hassy, and Fuji, but as a point of fact, 127 film could be shot in a 3x4 aspect by some cameras.
ОтветитьDo not make the same mistake as me .. and do not compare pictures from Medium-Format with Full-Frame
Otherwise you will always be tempted 😂 to go bigger 😅
Happy with my Canon FF but have to reckon the IQ from Medium Format is even better
I feel like the APS-C user looking at Full-Frame 😅😊😂
Great review! I love my GFX 100S and won't upgrade to this one, but yeah, with the lenses it weighs a ton. I tend to just pick one to take along. (Usually the wrong one!) The 50mm is a great lens, much lighter and more compact than the 32-64 which is wonderful, but a bit of a brick. The 100-200 is surprisingly light for its size, but it's huge so that doesn't mean much!
ОтветитьAs always, an excellente review, clear and clean information all around.
ОтветитьI get my lenses used and the prices are not too bad
Ответитьfinally GF glass reviews
ОтветитьWhat a great camera, some wonderful images there as well . Have got my lottery ticket , fingers crossed 🤞 looking forward to the lens reviews.
ОтветитьLooks like it is chock full of Sony tech. This is why they don't bother with medium format. Fuji do it for them.
ОтветитьThe sensor she told you not to worry about
Ответитьi want to put my thumb on the sensor
Ответить
