while this song can be relatable to a lot of ppl who are entering adulthood and aren’t sure about their future, i think this is also specifically about her place in the music industry. when she just debuted she had the advantage of being a young new thing in the industry, a wide eyed teenager that seemed exciting at the time, and also the pop music industry tends to fetishize youth, spitting out and forgetting female artists once they hit their 30s. it’s getting better nowadays but it still happens to a certain extent, so she might also be worried that she won’t always be this relatable teenager artist that seemed youthful and exciting when she just debuted. it reminds me of taylor’s nothing new but the fact that she’s having these kind of thoughts at 19 already is rly sad

I'm so tired of people being like "you're too young to be experiencing that!!!" or "gosh, you're only 19, that's terrible!" when they find out what I've been through. It just feels like they're diminishing the pain and struggles and only looking at my age 😕

I just turned 20 some days ago, and it's such a sad feeling. It's when it all hits that I've officially removed "teen" from my age and I'll never have it again. My teenage hood hasn't been kind to me. So many things I would do different if they gave me a chance to be just 19 once again.
