Y’know these apprehensions can be a double edged sword where it can actually turn a person into what they despise. The old saying “Men marry women expecting them not to change, but they do. Women marry men expecting them to change, but they don’t.” Fact.

I am married to a Filipina, and have been for 16 years. I also belong to a group of friends who are all married to Filipina. My wife is the same age as me, but many of these marriages are very young women with much older men as in 20+ years older, not even in the same generation.

Whether a Filipina or a man looking for a Filipina wife, you must apply the same principles as you would with any other potential romantic relationship. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that other cultures create better wives, and then take that woman from her culture, introduce her to your culture, and expect that she will not adapt. We should all seek to marry someone who will be a partner in life. Someone who will help us with our goals, and accept help from us for their goals. We should also make sure that if that person shows any signs otherwise - we have to be prepared to walk away. This goes for any Filipina who thinks that a man is merely marrying her for a simple sexual attraction, and any foreigner who believes that a woman is marrying him simply for a change in economic status. Believe me, I have seen the effects of marrying the wrong person for the wrong reasons. In the USA, the man can become trapped in an unhappy marriage with children due to the laws surrounding divorce, and Filipinas will discover that life in the USA is not as golden as they might think.

Then there’s the families. The happiest marriages I know of are the ones where the woman’s family doesn’t require support from her husband to survive. Marrying a Filipina means marrying the whole family. My wife and I discuss what sort of money we will give to her family as part of the budget, but her family treats us like the golden goose- and doesn’t care if they destroy our marriage to get that golden egg. My wife learned this the hard way. Even as we were being generous and offering help within our budget- they continuously came up with reasons to ask for more and more until it broke her heart to realize they were only using her. Filipinos are not that different. Their relatives who cannot take care of themselves would enjoy the same fate in any nation.

There are too many filipina scammers online to risk dating one anymore. I've had at least 75-100 filipinas try to scam over 10 years. I just dated another filipina for 2 months and the whole time she is doing a long term scam. I was so in love with her and she broke my heart.
