This feels like it is for intermediate guitar players. Like you need to be somewhat familiar with the parts and what they are called. Like when he talks a out making it parallel, Im like "parallel to what?"
idk could just be me. I am autistic so I need to be told evey little detail in order to get it

Imagine buying a new car and still having to adjust the brakes and steering? Why are Fender's so bad from new?

Great job but I still have an issue intonating the high E-string.
I have an American Strat. It has two bolts / screws in front securing the bridge.
My strobe shows the high E string slightly flat and I cannot shorten the string anymore because the saddle mechanism is right up against the bridge bolt. Neck relief and string height are set to spec.
Do you have a solution?
Thanks.

That was phenomenal. I love doing all my-own maintenance & set-ups. Once you learn, it Easier to get-the-guitar specifically . . . How you want it to: Play, feel-and perform.

He is a very talented knowledgeable person when it comes to guitars but this video is all over the place I mean to dump all of this into the brain cells of somebody/beginner with a new electric guitar is just too much to take in
it kind of gives you the impression that if you've got to go through all of this with an electric guitar WTH.

Just one stupid little comment. When there is too much relief in the neck, you tighten the truss rod, causing the neck to bow BACK a little, not up. I know he meant to say that.

Dude added relief turning the rod the wrong way loosening it, not tightening it. Also, you don’t adjust your saddles prior to neck adjustment 🤦🏻‍♂️ Do NOT follow. All wrong

I have a strat. I like to do my strings, etc. I would do my own setup if I knew how, so I never did, but now after watching Hunter do the setup I have a better idea of what to check and how to check and adjust if necessary. Thanks Marty

Shouldn’t it be truss rod first before bridge height?

I have a E series MIJ Stratocaster that I have had since early 90's. I have tried many times over the years to find out more about this guitar but web searches don't show much. Can you steer me in the right direction to find out more about this guitar? I contacted the Fender company and got the run around about it being too old and from another country, therefore they can't help. The seriel # E623990 which puts it from 84-87, but which year? It has the factory system one tremelo setup. The color is a teal / blue / greenish color. And help you might can provide would be appreciated.

Nice video however none of this has helped me tune a Squier fender STRAT.
I simply cannot tune it... and when i think I have it tuned and play a chord it sounds as if it was never tuned.
I have made all the adjustments over and over and over and i cannot get the bridge to lay flat nor tune one string.
The neck is straight, tuning gears are fine, the guitar has literally no wear nevertheless i cannot tune it. I have gibsons, kramers, ibanez all simple and easy to tune.
I have used my ear to tune, another insturment and an electirc tuner and notta.....I cannot even get it close.

any tips would be appreciated

I watched a video with a custom shop tech a while back, he mentioned a system called TRAIN I’ve used ever since. Tune, Relief, Action, Intonation, Noodle! And repeat until perfect.

This process was great information, but maybe add some information. This will lengthen the video but will help a beginner. For example when the string clearance was checked by pressing the 3rd fret, it would be helpful to add what measurement your looking for. For example: we are looking for a clearance of .020 or .022 on the 6th string. Depending on preference and guitar, but this would give that beginner a ballpark for what they should be looking for. Eventually they will get to the point where they can do it by sight.

With the radius gauge what should the string height measure for each one ? Eye balling is not a great pointer

arent you supposed to fret the 17th fret where it meets the body on a strat to check your relief? it does make a difference..
