Water has been getting less and less impressive these current years
Ответитьokay, that's impressive but what if i just want too implement simple water flowing from the tap how do i do that? anybody that can help me please
ОтветитьI think we're a solid 5-10 years away from normal maps being obsolete, probably leaning more towards 10 years though
ОтветитьSo, Yeah...)) I like this in the end of the video )) Sounds so fun
ОтветитьWait till' you see the water in cs2, in overpass.
Ответить"all things in games are smoke and mirrors. except for actual smoke and mirrors; we avoid those because they are hard"
ОтветитьWe both have ikea cups
ОтветитьMinecraft laughing in the corner:
ОтветитьWave Race Blue Storm (Nintendo GameCube, 2001) was at the time an impressive showcase of water physics in a video game.
ОтветитьPersonally i always thought that fire and water are hard to get real because you have to simulate moving textures. Didnt even realize in game water is just moving textures.
Ответитьsubnautica did water perfectly
ОтветитьMay not be as great as Unreal 5 or all the other games, but surely better than Cyberpunk... Dreams and how you can use the system to make your own water system. Can go from cartoon to almost realistic... To a point. Have yet to try/see waves.
Ответитьwater in games is hard because it deals with fluid dynamics, hence it deals with the navier stokes equations, hence it is impossible. currently. so everything is a guesstimate just by the nature of our scientific understanding of it
ОтветитьMan... Wave Race 64?
How could you forget?
personally I DRINK my water
ОтветитьLove your work ❤️
Ответитьwell cyberpunk patched the water now :D
ОтветитьYou know what, water is pretty cool!
Ответитьdrink water
ОтветитьYou are really annoying and you played trap music. Thumbs down.
ОтветитьYour dog is ugly
ОтветитьGreat ❤ video. Wave Race Blue Storm (Nintendo GameCube, released in 2001) was a technical masterpiece. Even today the water physics are impressive. NSTC (Nintendo Software Technology Corporation, based in the United States) worked three years in total on the game and two of the three years was spend to create the water effects. They’ve implemented physics from nature so the waves interact in a natural way. It’s stunning and impressive.
ОтветитьMinecraft has the best mouse realistic water physics. Hands down. 😂
ОтветитьI would like to know how you could take vertex displacement into account in gameplay, if the mesh is static how can you detect collisions against a ship for instance? Maybe you'd have to ACTUALLY modify the vertex position in real time?
ОтветитьLove the Cyberpunk sarcasm. Lol
ОтветитьI love the stabs cyber punk lmfaoo
Ответитьso vertex displacement is basically a 3d normal map
ОтветитьThis is awesome. Thank you.
ОтветитьSubnautica revolutionized what "water levels" can be. Worked so well
ОтветитьIts crazy how back when I was like 10 in games you couldn't even hardly touch the water and everything was set maps and quest instead of open adventure crazy how it's advanced
ОтветитьMinecraft has the funniest water:
1. Fall in a puddle a few inches deep and you don't take any fall damage.
2. Swim up a waterfall.
3. Water Infinitely flows from its source.
The first game that ever impressed me with its water physics that comes to mind is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. It was a PS2 game that had vertex displacement for its poles of water when you walked through them.
ОтветитьPlease make a video about how Just Cause 3's wingsuit physics work
Ответитьcool cool
ОтветитьDang you totally could have tossed in a few more roasts to Cyberpunk. Every transition "like modern games" etc I was expecting it. Glad you tossed in that ending one though lol.
ОтветитьI think sea of theives has the best water
ОтветитьWater is hard and we shouldn't be mad at game devs for "faking it"
Say to yaself, gamyr, ya wanna that 60FPS and the game to be interesting and not fall onto one gimmick?
That clip of getting distracted and studying the ground or textures in a game, then someone jumping on you cracked me up. I can relate LOL
ОтветитьYou missed talking about fast fourier transforms.
ОтветитьVery insightful, thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьRecently found this channel, really interesting!
ОтветитьRegarding sea of thieves, there surely must be a whole lot more than just a vertex shader, right? From what I remember, ships roll, pitch and heave, according to the shape of the waves the ship is currently riding. That means the CPU must somehow be aware of the shape of the waves to simulate that. Maybe a vertex shader is used for the smaller waves (that would never have any impact on the ship physics)? Do I have a flawed understanding of vertex shaders?
ОтветитьYou forgot something very important: all the immersion you created with the procedural vertex displacements, animated normal maps, artificial refraction, & foam particles can quickly be destroyed because the water's surface is visible inside the boat that's supposed to be watertight!
ОтветитьThe end about Cyberpunk is just the cherry on top 🤣🤣
Ответитьsea of theives is not tripple aaa only from triple aaa company
ОтветитьGod of War on the PlayStation 2 has better water physics than Cybercrap
Ответитьsome video games make you feel like an ant because of how water functions
they look like the character could grab a drop of it and hold it with both of their hands
Very off topic and irelevant but we have the save bulbasaur plant pot :)))
Ответить
