I love that you're connecting back with roots! I still have to go back to Laos with my mom but until then I'm too scared to go without her LOL. banh canh and bun rieu is my absolute favorite vietnamese soup dishes. It's so exciting seeing you explore Vietnam!

I totally understand the cockroach thing lol. I had one fall on my face once. (thank God my mouth was closed!) It was 10 years ago and I’m still traumatized 😂

Welp, I guess you had to amputate your foot after something crawled up it, terribly sorry for you (and I don't think you were being dramatic at all - that'd freak me out completely too). There's a place where I live that sells crispy imperial rolls - they are so good!

As a local Vietnamese currently living abroad, I'd say all the food places that Julia went to are pretty legit, especially the Banh mi, Banh xeo, and the family-style meal restaurant. Your video makes me miss the taste of those dishes 😭Thanks for the video, it could be a short travel guide when you're in HCMC.
