i tried the second method, do i need to restart my printer in order for the firmware to take place? nothing happens to my printer and it still shows older firmware

Kind of nasty firmware. Swindleware.
My HP M28a works (have worked) with LinuxMint without installing HPLIP. Don't know why this absurdity to not plug and play a cheap low volume printer for consumer market. but that's it.
I'm not even an intensive printing user, mine is 1year old. I have printed 25 pages in total... with its original toner almost there... today, some days after warranty decade it shows alarm off and doesn't print anymore...
Steady warning steady standby light... just tried to reset, extract and reinsert toner a couple of times, restart, cut power off... nothing.
It has never been moved neither fall down or stuffs, used with its cartridge... What happens than?
I don't want stupid exhausting firmwares.
I want a simple printer that works over time every time using whatever toner without your stupid garbage code and timer traps under the hood.
BIG FRUSTRATION AND VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I think I will never buy whatever HP product anymore.

Please help!!! MFP 426fdw My touchscreen works everywhere but the bottom right hand corner.... Trying to copy a business card and enlarge it by 188%, everything is entered, but when I touch OK it doesn't complete the action.... Seems the bottom right hand corner is not working... I have turned the printer off and on a few times, wiped the screen.... Does this need a firmware update? Attempted to access an update as instructed in this video, said no update was available... Attempted to just copy and touching start copy doesn't work either.... Seems to be the bottom right hand corner....

Hi everyone, both the update from the printer menu and the firmware update tool didn't work for my printer (M281fdw). Then finally, the HP Print and Scan Doctor Software from the HP Support Site did the update job successfully.

I’ve uploaded the latest firmware but when installing it takes a full 30 minutes gets to 99% Then says it can’t connect. However I can print from my computer or phone just no control panel screen. Stuck on Ho logo with red x. Any help would be appreciated
