Jaws: You're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

Its strange to see how phony the shark looks in today's world of CGI, special effects, etc..however I saw this movie in 1975 when I was 14 at the local theater and can tell you it was no joke. People were screaming and covering their eyes and heads! I did not swim that summer at all...even in fresh water. This was the catalyst movie that started the "summer blockbuster". BTW - I recall reading somewhere where it said that this was an ad lib line from Scheider, and not in the script.

this movie will be banned by woke mob. because the girl got eaten by the shark at the beginning. ( instead of the guy with her going to rescue her and getting killed by the shark, after which, she fights off the shark and kills it by herself. )

Why is it that this shark and it’s sequels can’t still creep me out more than these newer “deep blue” and “Meg” sharks?

I love Jaws, Good movie! I was almost 7 when I saw and watch this on vhs in 2001. Brody and Hopper are my favorite characters.

I love the comedic relief when Brody near panic doesn't want to go anywhere near the exposed feeling pulpit and beats a retreat. He then quickly reverses direction seeing the harpoon in the hands of an alcoholic shark hunter that's just turned into Captain Ahab.

I always thought Hooper said lean another Barrel like lean get another one but I guess he said get another one that's just me

Every reaction here is spot on with each character development, this movie is a cinematic monument.

I think what gets overlooked is that even Quint stands in awe. A part of it might be he fucking lives for this. Like wakes up everyday and prays to shoot a porkers head. However, this shark was unlike anything he had ever seen before.

God, were we ever that young? I hear Richard Dreyfus’s speak of making the movie and OMG the intensity of youth. It is just like watching Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie. Both these actors were butt ugly by 2023 standards, but oh lord when they said their lines, they said them with passion and conviction. I hear Richard and Dustin speak now, and I hear them both speak with quite reserve. I really miss their “Living in the moment” performances, not thinking past their next movie or next paycheck.

One of the greatest movies of my lifetime; I will stop and watch it whenever I stumble upon it, no matter what part of the movie it is. I can recite it word for word, it’s such a classic. I can’t imagine any actors other that these three. Movie greatness beginning to end. The sequels sucked.

Steven spielberg is so talented. When I watch Jaws 1 or Jurassic park 1. I'm not sure what exactly makes me enjoy these movies. The script, music, story, actors. It 's not about the huge production or the special effects. It's just his magical touch that grabs your attention and touch your heart. You can feel the difference when watching other parts not directed by him.
