I have a DS Star Trek phaser and bought a metal parts kit and a hollowed out acrylic emitter for it. Going to disassemble and gut it out so I can add a 7w NUBM44 laser module. It's going to be my own personal laser phaser.

I wonder what's so incredibly difficult about lasers that you need multiple years of practice though. Like, don't shine one into your eyes, don't look at its reflection, don't point it at stuff that you want to keep unburned and unmelted, make sure no one can come in while you have the laser on, and if it's neccessary to have other people present, make sure that everyone in the room understands and follows those rules.

I primarily want to buy something like these for survival, with a defocusing lens so it is easy to flash planes that would be far enough away to not get eye damage
if I am stranded I want a laser that can start fires and flag planes, though a proper key-switch and other security features would be welcome

i have a green version of the silver one that looks like a gatlin gun. it’s definitely stronger than 5mw, but it won’t light stuff on fire. i bought a 24 volt 10watt laser for turning a 3d printer into a laser engraver.

Any problem can be solved by adding more power to it.

Nah, you can't get the 1000mW UV laser for 30 bucks, its 50$ on any marketplace.
But the Green laser is legit dangerous. 1000mW and it cost so cheap... 5$ on any marketplace.

How far do you have to be until the laser wouldn't light stuff on fire anymore? Do you have to be relativity close? Or could you be yards away and still have the same effect?
