Signal & Systems is a freshman’s course in my university (first semester).

I agree that this is a very important and also interesting course but at that time it just made me want to quit.

Can you recommend any books on electricity and electric circuits for a complete beginner?

While in college my buddy/roommate got his EE degree. Watched that kid do 2-6 hours of homework every single night. He graduated in 4 years due to immense determination and hard work. Quite a sight to see really.

How come no control course ?

I'm surprised there weren't any semiconductor classes in the first three years. Or is that an optional class to take?

Without searching up your name or whatever, you look Iraqi. Man you made me excited for this spring semester of my freshman year as EE student.

I make most of my living doing EE. What I quickly found was the mathematical models used in EE education and practice were often lacking or just plain wrong. Due to this fact, new models were developed where semiconductors were treated as thermal devices as example. S charts were far more useful in circuit design than education would suppose. In these modern times the practice is to use models to create a basic design and then build the design to see what it does in the real world. Next, sort out the reasons the circuit does not perform as desired creating remedies to correct circuit behavior. Further, have found using calculus to estimate circuit behavior and model real world events very often lead to false conclusion. Instead, using parametric algebraic equations over well defined regions proved to be far more accurate to real world behavior. Calculus basically requires smooth, linear, and continuous conditions which in the real world are seldom met.

Taking Physics 2 rn, Chem, and EE 30 which is C. All three have labs, its not bad it just that I kinda got the short end of the stick with my physics teacher as they grade extremely hard especially my physics lab prof. He grades like his students are upper level Enginnering students. Other lab profs grade hella easy

Why am I watching this if math is my arch nemesis

Which subject do I have to focus on more math or physics for EE?

Its crazy cause here in Brazil we are taught derivatives and integrals in calc 1, partial derivatives and double and triple integrals in calc 2, calculus for vector fields and taylor and maclaurin series in calc 3, then we have calc 4b which is laplace and fourier transform, partial differential equations and z transform, all this in a electronics engineering degree

I think the curriculum above is more inclined towards electronics and communications part i.e it looks like ECE curriculum.....because as a EE student myself we have couple of more topics like: Elecrical Machines (1 and 2), Power Electronics and Power Systems (1 and 2 in detail) (which was present at the end of 3rd year here).

i am a civil engineer and i think my degree was a lot easier. 😂

I completed the first 2 years of an electrical engineering degree at a community college and the classes i took were somewhere different from what you described in the video. I took all those math classes and physics 1 & chemistry 1 as well but didn't take any circuits or signals and systems classes. After that I was forced to take a break from college for several years and only graduated last year after getting into a British top-,up degree program in network engineering. This along with several networking related professional certificates like CCNA and CWNA have enabled me to work as a wireless network engineer (basically WLANs). But my passion lies in going for a master's in telecommunications engineering and further studying communication systems. Can you please share your opinion on this regarding whether it'd be possible or not?

I already have a career and majored in biology in undergrad. I loved electricity since HS. I think after I retire I might major in electric engineering for shits and giggles.

Bro this is ridiculous. After a 4-year bachelor degree in the US, you learned as much as 4 semesters of electrical engineering in Germany. Circuit Analysis in Sophomore year? Damn…

Univ. at Buffalo was a top 30 engineering school in the US in 2018, and now they aren’t even in the top 100. The SEAS really tanked after Dr. Whetherhold made that kid commit suicide in Clemens hall in fall 2019.

Bro its Electronics engineering rather than electrical. In india electrical engineering means its purely concentrate on electrical topics like power transmission, solar power etc and basics of electronics. Electronics engineeeing in india teach u topics like digital logic computer design, Signals and system, DSA, Electronic circuits, computer architecture, Microprocessors, embedded system, DSP, Communication networks (Mobile, Computer etc), Robotics

I’m a bit nervous to start school. Just got out of the Navy as an AT. But after you reviewed this I realize how much my A school went over a lot of these topics. Feeling more confident.

My old roommate apparently quit a call center job after 6 ish years, and got an EE degree. Like huh? So smart. Had no idea. Really humble and frugal guy. Learned a lot from him.

I got my BSEE from NorthEastern in Boston in 1991 and this curriculum looks almost identical to the classes I took over 30 years ago!

I work in Telecom as an Outside Fiber Plant Engineer (Non-Certified). I worked my way up from fixing copper twisted pair circuits and dial tone for the phone companies. I absolutely love what I do now. I have always wanted to be an actual engineer since probably middle school. What we do is more of a combination of Civil and Electrical (Coordinating and designing with other utilities). The class load looks crazy and overwhelming, thanks for posting though!
