Emerson String Quartet plays George Walker's "Lyric for Strings"

The orchestra version is lush. This is sometimes spare and maybe conveys messages of individual beauty better. It’s a great way to experience the piece! Maybe I’m feeling the composer’s original intent here!?!?

The structure of this piece shines through in the quartet. The isolated chords stop me in my tracks and say, “wait”, before we go on, remember there is also silence.”

It's a pity there I can only like this once.......
