I'd love to try this with my mandrin orange tree. We've just come into winter and I think it would be best to wait for spring. What do you think, I don't have a green house or sun room.
ОтветитьI loved this video and I loved listening to your voice. Thank you!
ОтветитьAwesome thankyou so much for a wonderful tutorial. Love it.
I'm going to try propetating lemon trees 👏👌🙏
Really enjoyed your practical tips for using stuff around the house! & your reasons are funny too. I'll try this soon thanks.
ОтветитьHi there. Do u have citrus to sell? We make juice. I'm in Bay of Plenty. Where r u?
ОтветитьHad to trim hundreds of branches from a raja sweet orange, grown from seed, before thinking of rootings...my bad, my stupidity..
ОтветитьThanks you.for the video was well done and is a inspiration. 6 weeks ago have take a root.
ОтветитьI have a question, after yo cover with bag do you have to water again?
ОтветитьCan you successively use a whole branch?
ОтветитьThanks for the quick and direct info. I will give it a try, especially with the bag. Have had bad luck previously, although several were with branch tips that came off accidentally, and so weren’t ideal cuttings.
ОтветитьVery nice video
ОтветитьYou had me at "so you want to grow cuttings from a citrus tree,... good on ya!", As a native Yank I can say to my fellow Americans that is the most Aussie of Aussie statements ever. The narrator turns something as universal as gardening and makes it uniquely Australian. . And done so subtly.
ОтветитьCuttings have a better chance of rooting if the cut is made below a leaf node, as there are certain kinds of cells at the node location that are prone to root/produce roots. GREAT JOB you did in explaining the process!! I have a cutting that appears to have rooted as well!! LOVE it!!
ОтветитьThanks to you now I have 20 trees of lemons I planted 7 years ago full of lemons 👍 from Australia 😊
Ответитьawesome vid man thanks im going to do this
ОтветитьAt what point do you take off the plastic bags?
ОтветитьAngled or flat cut. U expose the same internal tissue.. works fine either way
ОтветитьWonderful! How long do I keep the bag on? I want to multiply my Meyer Lemon trees like it was going out of fashion!
ОтветитьI'm in Florida and going to assume dappled sun is fine?? As it is summer now. I'll try the bag tho, good idea!
ОтветитьHI. I live in Melbourn Australia, I would like to know, at what time of year do I take cuttings from citrus trees to plant. love your Video. thank you
ОтветитьI am new to gardening, and I've always been wondering. When you put the bag over the plant with rubber band, wouldn't the lack of airflow be a problem for the plant? It's great to see that it's working for you. I'm just wanting to know why it works because all my research says the lack of airflow can be detrimental. Is the bag only needed in its beginning stages of coming back to life from the cutting? Thanks :D
Ответитьthank you for such an amazing video. i have a question in Adelaide Australia when would be a prime time to try this? i have a mandarin tree that every year produces amazing tasty fruit and would love to have 1 more in my garden. thanks
ОтветитьBrilliant
Ответитьthank you lot's
Ответитьhow long to leave the bag on?
ОтветитьThat was about the BEST video I’ve seen so far. Sad you didn’t keep on doing videos. This channel probably would have been a success.
ОтветитьWhat time of year do you take cuttings
ОтветитьMine is one month older showing 2/3 new leaves, I'm afraid if i can maintain it and get a full grown plant from it.....
ОтветитьDid you ever take of the bag to water the cutting or just let the humidity produce moisture inside the bag ??
ОтветитьI always thought sterilizing tools working on citrus was fussy too but turns out there's a global bacteria infestation that's been killing citrus right and left, and is highly contagious to all citrus. Death is subtle and takes 3-5 years for total devastation of a stellar fruiting tree that should live at least a decade. I figure it's a minor inconvenience considering the growing problem internationally, which is why restrictions on shipping them to certain citrus industry locations is in such lockdown, so sterilizing tools is on my list now. I don't use bleach because of rust, but there are other less caustic solutions to do the same. One tip from Handyman magazine to prevent garden tool rust was to put sand in a clay pot, and soak the sand with linseed oil (or any oil, I guess, even vegetable oil). Tools in and out get scraped clean of garden dirt, and coated with oil for rust prevention at the same time. If sand is a problem, try beads or some other granular material good for scraping.
Gone are the days of care-free citrus propagation. [Sigh]
Hi. Have u ever come across a juicy, smooth fleshed, large orange tree called ‘Orange ‘pineapple’ variety that is about 50 to 60 years old and if you have do u know where I can buy a small young grafted tree in NZ.
I ate one of this variety of orange when I discovered a tree in a friends garden in Wairoa recently. Delish!! Very smooth very juicy and sweet. Apparently, according to some info I found about it on the web it’s variety name came about due to its fragrance… can you help..
Potting mix please show the picture brand name. Thanks.
ОтветитьHow long do you keep in plastic bag
ОтветитьYour such a good guy , was a pleasure watching your video . Thanks for the direction and for puting a smile on my face knowing there's top quality men out there still x
ОтветитьThanks...adam....🌞
ОтветитьPropagation by cutting has 80% failure!
Ответитьwhat hormone growth did you use to get the roots started. - Thanks
ОтветитьVery useful thank you. Where did you get your Plant pots?.
Ответитьwhat medicine do you use?
ОтветитьPerfect…just what l was looking for. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada 🍁
ОтветитьNo rooting hormone is needed for limes and lemons. Totally unnecessary. They are fool proof. It is also not necessary to remove so many of the leaves. I never use clear plastic bags. white, only. small kitchen trash bags--4 gallon. New growth may look encouraging, but does not necessarily mean that it is already rooting.....personal experience. I use a 3 gallon plastic pot, usually filed with sand and cover with a white trash bag. Then I put it in a partially shaded area. Not full sun. Water the whole thing well, then check it about every 30 days. No need to water every 2 or 3 days. It is a miniature "poor man's" greenhouse.
ОтветитьI didn’t understand the watering. Would someone explain it to me? Thank you!
ОтветитьUnexpectedly funny and entertaining guy.
Came for the info.. stayed for the funny
Great video, thanks for sharing 👍
ОтветитьThanks so much for this video. I followed your method three years ago to save the genes of a 40 year old lime tree on my back yard, from stock originally from South America, that was dying. It had the tastiest limes I've ever eaten and I was desperate to retain it somehow. Three of the cuttings survived, and one tree is now in the ground, very healthy and produced about 40 limes this year. And they're just as good as the original. Thank you again!
ОтветитьI'm so dang frustrated because all of mine failed. And I followed these instructions as best as I could. The only thing I realized now is that when I first watered them, I watered until the potting mix was fully wet. Obviously it didn't drain well enough and they drowned. That's the only thing I can figure happened. I got no roots whatsoever.
ОтветитьI did 11 of these just like this. Apparently I used way too much water which I wish would be more specified. They drowned obviously. I only watered one time but the potting soil retained all the water.
So the trick is to put a little bit of water in maybe a couple of ounces if that? And from that point how much water do you actually put in the pan? Do you put it up to the level of the openings? Do you put it up higher than that? How much EXACT water do you use and when?
A great message at the end.
Ответить2 days later ... I kept the pots outside but some of the plants seem early brown (burnt?) and some mild wilting ... only 68 degrees out but I wonder if with the plastic bag it’s “too much”? Wonder if I should grow inside to start with?
