I think the biggest gut punch about MB is the fact that Adam and Jaime did NOT like each other.

I always thought of them as buddies that wanted to break the bounds of science and they had fun together making those contraptions.

I guess everything isnt always so simple, huh?

I laughed at the fake poop story. Fun(?) Fact: the poop in many fetish videos is fake, it's primarily undercooked brownies. Jamie would be far from the first to eat realistic fake poo on camera, but definitely the first on general TV if they'd let him.

I have a theory about the viewership dropping, hear me out, it's very simple, schools started showing episodes to kids, then the kids grew to dislike them cause they were forcefully educational, this limited the next generations viewership of the show

Robert Dziekanski died at Vancouver airport 2007 from multiple Taser hits. The whole story is a tragedy. I bet rubber bullets have killed to.

Non-lethal is a terrible term when it comes to weapons. It's a weapon, it may not be designed to kill you, but it is designed to debilitate you through injury, which can still kill you under the right circumstances.

Tasing is literally torturing people with electricity, a tool used by my government rather extensively.

There's no such thing as "non-lethal" when you're trying to incapacitate someone, is the thing. Like, looking at it from the perspective of combat, there's just no good way to stop someone from being able to hurt you without a risk of lasting injury, and almost any lasting injury is gonna run the risk of death.

We could theoretically make an antimatter powered gamma ray laser that fits in a watch and can cut steel. It’s impossible with any conceivable technology at the moment but it isn’t forbidden by the laws of the universe. It would also kill the user with the first use so there’s that.

I think that taser choice was a good call, there's always a non-zero chance to die from one of those.

My favorite episode was the one where they either coated or lined a shed with spray on automotive bed liner. They were then going to set off an explosion in the shed to see if it would hold up. I thought that there was NO WAY the shed would hold up, but it did. I was shocked!

Yea, I gotta agree on that poop argument. Even if its fake, just the idea of smearing it everywhere with your hands and eating it is just absolutely revolting, let alone actually doing it.

TBH you could make a wristwatch-sized one-use laser that could cut a single bar of steel. It would be stupidly dangerous, prob. radioactive and would melt itself in the process, but teeeeeeeechnicaaalllyyy

I got one, but not sure if it's been asked before (maybe it has?). Since the show has ended a while ago now, has there been any new or missed myth's that one or both the hosts would like to try out?

And if so, maybe for an anniversary get everyone back together do a handful of them like the good old days perhaps?

i always wondered why richard dean anderson was never on mythbusters and why there werent more macgyver myths i mean macgyver gadgets were the stuff of legend back then or so it seemed at the time

It should have been the scene where they proved soda cans can't burst in a hot car. That one literally made me stop watching the show.

I just lost my dad 6 days ago due to liver cancer. One of my fondest memories was back around 2004 -2010 watching mythbusters with him. Everytime the show was on mybdad would call me into the room and we would watch the show together and we both enjoyed every second of it. We didnt care about reruns or older episodes because we loved the humor and passion dedicated to the show. My dad was 73 when he passed on the 29th of august 2023 and i have found myself coming back to the old things we use to enjoy together and of course one of the first things i came back to was mythbusters.

Growing up watching y'all's show I always got the impression Jamie was the more down to earth of you two - between this and the Blendo saga I couldn't be happier to be proven wrong. <3

The thing about the taser (and similar devices) is that they are "non-lethal" compared to being shot. Before tasers there were baton rounds and rubber bullets, but they had to be fired from a regular firearm which tempts fate, and they absolutely can kill anyway. It's very hard to find a way to bonk someone with an object that will incapacitate them but couldn't possibly kill them.

So tasers are an improvement, but suffer from other problems. Yes, they can be lethal, for the same reasons that sometimes anaesthesia is lethal. And yes, they can fail to incapacitate people.

But you always have to remember that the alternative to being tased is being shot with a service weapon from 7 to 10 feet away. I can understand Adam being unhappy about being tased, but no-one would ever possibly volunteer to be shot.

James bond laser cutting steel watch can't exist in a million years... Have you seen the size of lasers back in the day vs today just for the same thing.

I grew up watching Mythbusters but my parents changed tv packages during the Behind The Myths tour. All the science channel got dropped.

So i never got to see any of those episodes, even the last one. I remember seeing one when I was staying at a hotel in mexico where theyvwere testing boob size. Really made me loose faith in the show
