DJI MINI 2 Range Test - How Far Will it Go? (Hidden Features Tested!)

I have that holy stone drone sort of like this or similar. The battery lives in my on battery and it won’t even let me go down to 25% which is great to protect the life. I had large drone and the battery warning was telling me the battery was low, but of course I was ignoring it just to see how long it will last for in the drone fell out of the sky it damage some of it, but it was still fly, but the battery pack I had to toss out because it was puffy

Someone else may have already pointed this out but the gray mini 2 battery is indeed a lithium ion polymer battery

You will also get more range if you increase the altitude of the drone. The better your line-of-sight, the stronger your signal connection will be from your controller. Great video!

You should have done the test without recording, you greatly reduced the battery life

The range is incredible, you can get halfway across my city of Sydney with that kind of range

Don't you need to manually calibrate the drone orientation any more? I'm sure that used to be a thing with old DJI's 🤔

Hi, where is the option to activate the little info on the bottom in the middle of the screen that shows the direction of the drone vs yourself ?

10km is only the video and RC signal ranges and are limited by the FCC. How far it can physically fly will vary based on the wind and temperature. The video signal can't travel any further than around 6km

i smashed the crap out of mine on the ceiling fan.. it automatically flew up for no damn reason. I think the app gave an error or something.. anyways.. it's all cracked now. Replacement parts gonna cost like 50 bucks :(

How the hell do you get over 15k feet distance? I got a used one on ebay and it can fly only 3000 feet before losing signal. I took a to a different place with less houses and got 5000 before losing signal. It is not even close to 15k feet. Wth. Did I get a broken drone or what.

Just got one of these! BTW we're in miles and feet in the UK.... The rest of Europe is in KM etc!

I mean it still flew for 10km/6mi you went 5km/3mi out and it did the same coming back with RTH if it could go 10km/6mi you would be flying total 20km/12mi think it’s pretty cool but idk about other drones so can’t say much

Why the obsession with range? Line of sight is based on weather? It's a finite measurement?

I apply the same principle to drone batteries as to SCUBA tanks; 1/3 out, 1/3 back, and 1/3, just in case. I have seen folks losing their drones because they pushed their luck too far. I can do without that headache.

I have had a thought on these range tests. Some don’t make it back because of battery. Well looking at the shape of the drone it occurred to me that the drone may actually more streamlined in reverse, and maybe it could go further, easier going backwards. Just as flying sideways must create the most drag. Perhaps a test for this may assist those drone pilots who seem doomed on the way back, maybe it could save the day. A test showing a range test in reverse vs forward may establish an important drone action to perform on returns.

My Dji mini 2 doesn’t go that far my max distance on Dji mini 2 was 7000ft is there advance setting for distance?

I've owned my mini 2 for awhile now and tested battery life so many times I've forget 🤔I only ever go 2.5km from its base/home this allows 5km return. In high winds my drone had to emergency land 300m from its base / home I drained the battery to 0% that was my most heart thumping one cause the wind was so high that the drone was going sideways and I was over water / river at the time, it emergency landed in a small tree 10m from the waters edge 😅 The mini 2 is one great drone, once you know its limits you have no issues

I almost had an anxiety attack watching you push that drone that far yet alone letting it reach 3% before landing 🤣

This is awesome. Just cant justify $600 unless it has a promising return other than for fun.
