also, I've lost faith in American tv reality shows being 'real' after seeing a bunch of these people turn up in movies and other tv shows. a lot of them are clearly hired actors.

i dont know ... coulndnt he just give him the deserved money without the drama and a whole tv show ... he deserved the payout ... did the monster deserve the forgivness?

I love the show, " Undercover Boss.." until xfinity screwed me so much with my bills that I gave up watching tv. Until then, the show made me shed many tears as I saw good, hard workers get the rewards that they deserved.

This worker deserves this. So many companies don't care about the workers. Thank you for what you just did for this single father. You won't be sorry. He deserves the help and you will have a great loyal employee.

There is no way in hell that he will stop doing side jobs. People who do that don't do it because they have to, they do it because its addicting to earn profits.

Nobody in america is that blatantly open about debts to someone they barely met, especially a new hire.
Who in their right mind would talk about debt to someone who's on their first day of the job.

Also the camera's, you gotta ask yourself why a brand would give away 20k and record it.

As a construction worker, this makes me happy. Most people have no clue about hard work in the cold and heat all day.

why the hell is he putting a hard hat ontop of a normal hat. wtf. also these shows have to be staged because not 1 person would ever open up that much 15 minutes into meeting the new employee.

It would be interesting to see a follow up story on some of these Undercover Boss episodes. Like with this man, how is his promotion going, did he pay down his debt and what difference has it made to him and his family.

i saved my company millions and they painted a mop and stuck it on the wall and awarded it to me, i was blown away, who needs a gold watch or money ha ha ha.....

I like things that happen like that its just a shame it takes a camera to recognise it.

Taking care of employees is taking care of the company. When I was just out of highschool I worked for two companies part time. One as a tugboat mechanic, the other in laser CNC cutting. There was one day I heard cummins was overcharging us for heat exchanger gaskets. It was a simple gasket with no metal or mesh in between, so I suggested that I use my connections with CNC laser cutting to make our own and I'll get them a much better price.

When I went to my laser cutting boss we was more than happy to help, but not only that he offered 50% commission on the gaskets since I was the one who got the lead. I was only 17 and even though it was only a few hundred extra dollars I was overjoyed. To this day I would work with that man for free due to his generosity and wiliness to see me as a person not an object to make money from.

Complete opposite of that I had another job restoring boats, and found a side hustle in the same shipyard basically doing the marine version of what the guy in video does. When my boss found out that I was working on the side he threatened to fire/sue me, said that I cannot be working in the industry and that I signed a contract preventing me from doing so. He was fiberglass, my sidegig was electric, not really competing. Needless to say I left that job, and eventually his company shut down.

Moral of the story is when you treat your employees right they will put in extra effort without asking anything in return. When you don't then you will never have a sustainable company since nobody stays long enough to become profitable.
