thanks guys for these class reviews. i still come back to these
ОтветитьWould you guys post your diviner druid rules? i'm very interested in the idea
ОтветитьWhen I DM I let necromancers use a body until it's completely destroyed, sort of. If a humanoid is killed and brought back once via animate dead, then it's still has flesh granted its rotting. If that same body dies again and is brought back then it comes back as a skeleton with reduced hit points. Skeletons that are killed can not be brought back and are assumed to turn to dust upon reaching 0 hp.
ОтветитьThe overpowered end game of the wizard was always the reason I thought they were the most interesting class. It was the potential for greatness even though the early game was torturous at times.
ОтветитьPerversatilty? versatility
ОтветитьPLEASE DO AN ILLUSION SHOW! PLEEEEASE
ОтветитьAbout to start a campaign as a Divination Wizard. She's never going to have the punch of a Sorcerer, but like the sheer level of options is gonna be fantastic. I'm really looking forward to Fabricate later on. Plus, my DM is allowing Portent + Lucky feat later, which looks really solid.
ОтветитьHow do you determine your spell D.C. Sorry if it's easy I'm new and don't understand
ОтветитьDid they ever do an Illusions episode? I have a player who wants to be an illusionist wizard.
Ответитьpruett's the man.
ОтветитьConjuration schools Benign Transposition paired with misty step is something to look at. It is a pretty effective combo for move the right people into the right places
Ответитьtransmutation got skipped. You think you could talk about it in the illusion episode?
Ответитьokay but for real though Divination is hella broken
ОтветитьI've kind of fallen for the Conjurer, actually. True, that school needs more spells. If I'm a wizard specializing in the art of conjuring, I think I should be able to conjure more creatures than just elementals. Especially since it takes forever to get those spells. At the very least, I should be able to bring in woodland creatures. Just something to use until my character gets to 4th level magic, and I can start calling forth elemental beasts. (I also wish there was a spell that let you summon ghostly allies, but that's another matter).
Still, it has quite good features to go along with it. Conjurers are teleporting all over the place, they can eventually have conjured allies without worry for losing Concentration. But I think the feature I love most is arguably the "weakest": Minor Conjuration. You can just make an object appear, as simple as you please. It's something I like because it's evocative. I imagine conjurers who conjure stools so they can sit down anywhere, or who bring out tools for every occasion. Need to break a chain? The wizard just summoned a pair of bolt cutters. Need a door opened? The wizard has you covered with a crowbar. Got stripped of weapons and locked in a cell? The wizard can supply one of the front liners with a shortsword or whatever.
That last point was actually really good
ОтветитьLetting necromancers reuse bodies? THE TWICE DEAD CAN NEVER RISE!!!
ОтветитьI want to play a Divination so bad. The Portent ability is awesome and The Third Eye is great.
ОтветитьI can hardly wait till my lore master is level 13 so he has teleport. Time to scry and fry it's been too long. He's level 6 right now and we just came into a lot of gold so spells here we go. After this I really want to play an abjuration one. That super dispel and counter.
ОтветитьEpisode on Illusions when?
ОтветитьDo you have the cosmic Druid circle posted anywhere? I’d love to look into playing it.
ОтветитьHey, you mentioned that the illusions are real for the wizard at one point, what trait are you referring to there? I checked illusory reality but that a part of the illusion becomes real period, not just for you. I'm working on an illusionist and want to know if I'm missing something
ОтветитьEvery Class should get a Special Ability that can only be had at Character Level 1, so that going Multi into it gives you all the usual, but not that one special thing.
This thing should be cool, but not OP... a useful tool, nothing lame but nothing to much either.
I love to Multi-Class, but it sucks when a guy goes 1-20 with a Class, or puts a lot of effort into WHY this class was 1st Class... just to see any/every one 'cross over' and get something vital for very little investment.
(As Haggrid) You're a Wizard. lol.
Enjoying your all's videos.
I wanna see antonia stark's character sheet. Shwe sounds like a really cool character
ОтветитьBest of both worlds. High level evil wizard guarded by lower level battle mage whose job it is to always be prepared to fight. Then make a unique dynamic evil wizard who is less than fully prepared
ОтветитьAll wizards are perverts.
ОтветитьI found the bit on Animate Dead house rules for necromancers interesting, since I'm playing a necromancer in a campaign now. Which I regretted later on when I realized the campaign was in a city with some rather strict laws about necromancy. There corpses could only be used once... but to make up for it, the DM let me reanimate non-humanoids (except for fiends, fey, celestials, other undead, and things that were incorporeal). So once we hit level 6 I immediately obtained a quartet of undead giant frogs. And later, a couple of "flail slugs" (flail snails after we removed their shell). That was fun... even though there were several missions where I just couldn't bring them along because it wouldn't make us viewed very well by civilians.
...Of course, eventually we hit a point in the campaign where we were traversing the dream world, so then it was back to humanoids for me and no civilians to worry about. Finally we're at the point where I'm really beginning to see how powerful this subclass can be. When you have a bunch of minions that can all take the standard combat actions... heck I remember one fight, our bard cast Dissonant Whispers on a guard surrounded by zombies, and the guard ran away and got killed by opportunity attacks.
Man going back to this. You guys really should do the Illision show
ОтветитьIt's really sad but I feel like abjurer is the worst wizard school in 5e, there's not enough abjuration spells for them to be really effective support/warding wizards. The warding rune that they get doesn't have enough abjuration spells to boost it for it to be worth it.
ОтветитьI modeled the Wizard Class in my homebrew HEAVILY after Gandalf & Radagast in the movies.
They will never master very high-level spells but will have a much more diverse selection to draw from, can fork & multi-cast spells, be somewhat better in melee combat, have a potential small army of animal resources, plus be the ONLY Class that can counter spells...
Made my first wizard abjurer, only 2nd level so far. Human, urchin background. Made moreso for the backstory rather than power gaming. It has some cool utility. I'm not so much a glass cannon, but at later levels I will be able to be great for anti wizards and protecting npcs with my ward. So far a lot of fun
Ответитьim new in d&d and if i could play a story with you guys, i would be so happy
ОтветитьJust re-watching this video and it's made me realize we still haven't gotten an illusion video! Would love to see your guys take on it
ОтветитьMy bladesinger went toe to toe with an adult black dragon and the dragon retreated to heal twice and was killed the third time
ОтветитьThis class is my absolute favorite class because you can customize it to the absolute max with your overall spell selections.
ОтветитьMaybe for Necromancers they can use a corpse a total number of times equal to the corpses original Constitution modifier to a minimum of 1. So if a creature had a Con of 10 or lower it could only be used once, meanwhile a creature who had a Con of 20 could be used 5 times. Each time the undead minion dies the number of times it can be used again is reduced by 1. Each time more pieces and chunks of flesh are missing, and when all "charges" are used up the corpse is no longer whole enough to be used and is useless.
ОтветитьAt our table (I normally DM, but have inspired my players to start running their own games), we have a few home rules for the evoker. I, personally, love the concept, but hated the execution, specifically how bad I felt Potent Cantrip was and how I felt that Empowered Evocation came a little late. So we homebrewed that potent cantrip would apply to attack roll based Evocation cantrips as well (so the Wizard doesn’t feel stupid for realizing that they took Firebolt, Ray of Frost, or Shocking Grasp and then realizing that it would have been mechanically better to get acid splash or create bonfire, which also doesn’t make sense to me as those are conjuration spells. I know that the SCAG and XGtE introduced a few, but I just felt like this worked better). Additionally, they get to add their Int mod to one Evocation damage roll at level 6. Then at level 10, they ignore resistance to the damage of Evocation spells (only Evocation spells. The demon still resists the damage of an incendiary cloud) and they get to reroll damage rolls of a 1 for their Evocation spells.
Ответить5e continued down the path to making the mage an unnecessary part of a well balanced party.
EVERYONE can cast cantrips, doing damage EVERY round if they want, just take magic initiate.
2nd Edition at least limited the number of cantrips by saying you had to give up one first level spell slot to cast 4 cantrips... and limited their power to NO DAMAGE.
No damage was in the definition of cantrip... spells that do "colorful effect" with all the power of a pop bottle rocket at their peak.
Let a fighter choose Eldritch knight and they sit there casting eldritch blast , eldritch blast, Eldritch blast... and might never bother to swing a sword until they are 8th level. Then add mage initiate for magic missile and ritual caster cleric and they can do their own healing between combats... give him a background as a locksmith's kid and he can pick locks with the best thief... One man complete party.
Ever since they released Bard, the awesomeness of the Wizard has been eroded.
Bard... a singing mage with thief skills and the ranged accuracy of an ranger...
Be careful what you ask for as a player though. The DM can have 100,000 NPCs just like you.
Planning to run against the mainstream and play a 14 Int 14 Wis Wizard with the Sailor background. These videos are very helpful!
ОтветитьAnybody else curious as to what his “trio of great design” is?
ОтветитьHere's my wanna be cqc cool guy Wizard: level 1 Variant Human with Mage Armor + double daggers. Stats are 10 14 14 16 10 10. Low hp hurts, but at low levels you're not completely useless. This build isn't meant to be "meta", obviously. Free feat choice is up to you :)
ОтветитьSo as a bard I dipped into wizard for 2 levels can I now use rituals from the higher level lists?
ОтветитьSpecial mention should go to levitate, only one save when spell is cast, if they fail then they're floating 20ft in the air for the duration of the combat. Works really well against a tanky bad guy as you can just pepper him with ranged attacks.
ОтветитьSorcerers are much more powerful spellcasters than Wizards. They also have more hit points. They also don't have to spend tons of money copying spells into a book. So why the fuck would anyone choose to be a wizard?! Terrible class design, if you ask me.
ОтветитьCan you do an episode on nonmagical weapons and properties?
ОтветитьI just found you guys and my take on the "Simulation" view is this, The whole game is a simulation. It's a ROLE playing game.
Ответить"On a normal day, a wizard may not have many offensive spells, if at all" (paraphrase) - yep, that's what a Staff of Power or a Staff of the Magi is for.
ОтветитьZombies require a dead humanoid, but correct me if im wrong, askieleton only requires BONES?
Ответить
