Well then! The comment section for this one was certainly opinionated.
TJ's history as a slave owner is unfortunate, but this is a fine piece of art. I appreciate the reference to Cincinnatus (who was apparently a fine piece of art in his own right) and the clever symbolism used to convey his transition back to civilian life.
This also made me wonder what it would take today for someone to be considered worthy of a marble statue. There's so many talented people doing amazing things - who do we honor this way and how?

George Washington the greatest American of all.

It is sad to know that some Americans will find it a bitter pill to swallow that Washington was a slave owner. Smarthistory has been telling the same facts regarding other countries like their video of the Four horses of San Marco and its relation to Napoleon of France, yet no one made comments to justify him stealing artworks from other countries because they know it is part of history. Keep up the good work of spreading the truth in both history and art.

Perhaps in the future you could keep your focus on the art being discussed and leave your politics out of it.

One short mention of being a slave owner in the end.
