Synology DS223j VS DS723+ | Which NAS to Buy?

This review seems pretty adverse to the DS223j but if I literally just need an high volume external hard drive, that would be the best choice, would it not?

One is $200 and the other is 3x that - wondering which is best lol

There is a substantial difference in price though. €199 vs €489 in my country.

They only have 1gb ports and cost more than the asustor which have 2.5gb

I bought the DS223j and I'm generally happy for the price but what really bugs me is that the thing never seems to hibernate the drives. Even if there's no device on my network contacting the NAS for hours it keeps the drives spinning seemingly in hopes something would soon read or write something to it, creating a sustained power draw of 18W. My old super cheap Seagate PersonalCloud did that too but I hoped that a company as big in the game as Synology would solve that better.

We understand that you are worried about losing your data. Please rest assured, your data should not be affected by the reset as the OS and data are stored in separate partitions on the drives. When re-installing the OS, the system should normally not touch the data-partitions of your drives.

Synology is regret bad nas choose qnap there isnt good support for problemss !!!

Great video. I’m thinking of getting the 223j for storage use only. But the 723j sounds good and future proof
