Best 2 Player Competitive Board Games I 1 vs 1 Board Games

Great recommendations! I am with you on all of these except for Undaunted. I bounced hard off that system for some reason, but that is just my personal taste.

Fantastic list. Fields of Arle is up there on mine, for sure...

I love summoner wars and seven wonders duel. I also reccomend lost cities its simple and easy to teach.

Caper Europe is still our favorite 1 v 1 game a year after we got it. SW Deckbuilder is quite popular too but Caper Europe always brings the most tension and laughter.

Have you played or seen Onitama?
Chess like game simple and quick to learn, hard to master

Some really good ones on this list. I'll add: Android Netrunner, Warhammer Diskwars, Mage Wars and especially Walls of Scydonia

My go to 1vs1 is Dice Throne. Love how all the characters play differently.

Since the list seems to promote budget (as little expansions as possible):
Quoridor and Santorini

This is by far my favorite category of games. Summoner Wars 2e is a great choice. I would say Sirlin Games is best-in-class when it comes to 1v1 games...highly recommend Codex and Puzzle Strike if you can get your hands on them (I've heard Yomi is great as well). Also highly recommend Cloudspire if you like MOBA/tower defense style games.

Such a weird list, there are so many more duel games that are great and worth trying. Just from top of my head: Unmatched, Warhammer Underworlds, MTG Commander, Commands & Colors games (Ancients, The Great war, Memoir 44), Warchest

not really competitive but I love Botanik

I would add Super Fantasy Brawl, Radlands and Space Hulk! Also, I would have added Star Realms instead of Star Wars deckbuilding game, because it's basically the same game with a lot more content.
Summoner Wars is on well deserved first place!

I hear Hive is great but I fecking hate bugs! I'd rather it was themed with the poo of different species.

I replaced the undaunted series with war chest. Similar game but I love the fact that there's no dice throw to screw up plans.

We have watergate, 7 wonders duel and star wars rebellion from this list....watergate being my favourite, it's excellent, a must buy😊

I also really like Sorcerer from Wize Wizard Games and Hero Realms. They aren't very popular, but they are great games. Good list though.

Another great vid! And I think you guys should check out Summit. Just a great co-op, team, or everyone vs game. Really unique.

Fave 2-player games not on this list: Lost Cities and Targi. Loooove Targi.

Good list guys! I am also thinking Sekigahara: Unification of Japan could be on this list. I even like playing Dune Imperium with just 2 people and the despoiler AI is fine

What you should try - scratch that, what you MUST try is TWISTED FABLES (preferably Deluxe edition). Similar to Undaunted, it is mainly a deckbuilder but you move your character's miniature with the cardplay. Hard decisions to be made, tactics vs. strategy, great asymmetric characters. I normally don't like 1v1 (except Mindbug), but this one is awesome.

My favorite 2 not to make the list are probably rad lands and unmatched

Putting keyforge instead of Netrunner is a crime 😭

Warhammer Underworlds is not on this list
so the entire list is wrong.

Solid list. I miss Targi, Hanamikoji and Jaipur

Summoner wars is my favorite as well. But we play a lot more Lost Cities. So easy to start and very quick with great decision making.
