Thank you so much! I use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed. I installed mysql using Oracle's SLES repo. It generates random temporary password. It doesn't let me run any other commands without changing the password. It told me to use ALTER USER command but it didn't work. sudo mysql_secure_installation worked. Thanks
