I have more than 50 listings and my shop 10 days old . I have many views like 500 and almost 10-15 favorited items but no any sales happened.. how it is hard to make first sales? Thank you

Is it possible to get a decent amount of sales without adding new listings daily? I'm a student and usually am busy with my studies but aim to add a listing every other day. I'm curious if I can still get traffic and sales despite not having a large number of listings out in a short amount of time since I often hear about large listing numbers being important.

So Google doesn't use the description at all? I write my descriptions for Google more so than for Etsy.

Hi Kara, I hope you can help. I opened my shop back in 2019 and was selling successfully until December 2021. It seems like something happened on the first of January 2022 and the switch has been turned off. I have made no changes in the shop but suddenly my views went down from 800 to 100 and most are from the traffic of my own. My sales are down by 60%. Etsy Marketing and SEO (offsite ads) are down 80%. Etsy Ads are down too. I fail to understand what happened all of a sudden that a successful shop has been put down and there is no information why it happened. Please can you tell me what factors could have caused this? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Making great common sense 👍 I liked the part about a listing with terrible seo titles but is ranking high but that could be because they have a mailing list or socials , just no way of knowing 👍👍 spot on

My titles are “Canvas Wall Art | Location of Shot | ….then I put a bunch of things like hotel art | restaurant art | dining room art” but starting to think the hotel/restaurant art can be a turn off for a lot of people

You are so right. The reason why a shop is at the top page of search is so vast and varies that no one can narrow it down. It's just a matter of developing your audience and repeated buyers and cater to them. I'm returning after leaving Etsy and trying Shopify which was the biggest mistake I could ever make. Now I am having to start all over again building my audience.

Hey Kara, great video thanks for the info 🙂. I've only been on Etsy now for approx 3 months and managed 42 sales which I'm quite happy with and learning all the time from your videos.

What I wanted to ask is, I read somewhere that newer listings get priority over older listings when ranking in position on the search. So I'm struggling as when to post listing for Valentine's day. Should I be posting them now or waiting until say the beginning of January?

I can't see anyone purchasing Valentine's gifts until after Christmas, so I don't want to post them now and risk having them deranked because no one is looking for them.

So many great points in here. I think many of us get very focused on the titles and tags because it feels like something we can actually do to boost our listing quality, while many of the other factors remain out of our control. I do have a specific keyword strategy question, I hope its okay to ask here now that I finally figured out I need to create a channel in order to post! Is there any point in using keywords with high engagement even if it's highly unlikely my listings would be found in search using them because they are incredibly high comp? In the jewelry category, most terms are skewed one way or another, either high comp but low search and engagement OR visa versa. Is a mix best or better to just stack low comp terms?
