The last story only demonstrates how managers and CEOs are useless leeches that only care about profit for the company that hired them. They will never care about workers lives or wellbeing.

As a cat lady myself, I feel so depressed about all those cats and that poor woman who had nobody to rescue her, what a heartbreaking story 😞

Not everyone’s Mom bails them out everytime.. that’s pretty bad parenting doing that.. that’s how you end up with those entitled people that do not understand consequences

Even before Mr. Ballen told about what happened with the boiler accident and they talked of leaving the boiler on and draining the water tank my thought was, if they leave the boiler on more of the slag will continue to build up excessively; common sense! I would have refused to work under those conditions. Whomever made the decision to save a little money should have been tried for involuntary manslaughter at the very least and spent a minimum of 10 years in prison with no parole!

Ironic I should be watching a story called "Hellfire" on the same day my favorite A Cappella group, Voiceplay, comes out with their version of "Hellfire" from Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Good thing too, after these stories I'm going to need some good music. Such tragic deaths. I can't imagine being Antonio's mother, I do hope there were repercussions for that company...but sadly, there properly weren't.

Companies that cut corners like that just makes my blood boil. Whatever amount of money they would have lost if they had just turned off the boiler they should times it by 10000 and that should be the minimum each of their families got.

Poor Antonio and those other five employees. Bloody awful. Companies will always cut corners if they feel they can get away with it. This is one of the many, many reasons why having strong unions are so damn important.

The hell fire story was to me the most tragic. I’m sure his mom blames herself for not being there to take the call, how much pain the family must be in knowing their husband and son died an awful painful death 💔 no amount of money in the world can repair the brokenness from that.

Out of all these tragic deaths, the ones that involve dying pets are the ones that really get to me, specially cats. If I ever die alone in my home with my cats I hope that they can eat me in order to survive until someone finds us. I would very very much rather be eaten by my beloved pets than being eaten by maggots. That way I could at least give back to them physically some of what they've given to me emotionally. Fuck I really love those little bastards.

Daddy Rat. That was a tough one. I am certified to operate a Power plant. You would shut down the boiler and then lock it out the controls with a paddle lock and you have the key so no one else can come along and turn it back on. A plant Mgr. for a plant like that should know better.

The first story reminds me of another one I heard.
This guy had to deal with a thief breaking into his shed on a regular basis by breaking a window and taking what was there. The owner then decided to put a bear trap in there so the thief wouldn’t see it and he would get incapacitated. The day after the owner set up the trap he went into the shed to find the thief dead because he jumped into the shred from the window and landed head first into the bear trap, killing him instantly.
From what I remember about the aftermath, the owner wasn’t charged with anything as the bear trap was meant to incapacitate the thief and that since he had been the one who jumped into the window it was the thief’s own fault he got killed.

Goes to show you that a company will put you in danger before taking a hit to their billions of dollars in profit. The few millions they payout in settlements for practically murdering their own employees is cheaper than doing what's safe and morally right n

Story 1: This honestly sounds like a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. A lot of people who have reported experiencing paranormal events, mysterious break ins, even seeing things or people out of the corner of their eyes have been found to be suffering from CO poisoning. Break in hallucinations often come about in cases where the poisoning causes an almost sleep-walking-like state where you yourself are the one moving items or "stealing" them. You have absolutely no memory of doing it, and in these cases, many people develop paranoia that is exacerbated by the CO. It explains why the thief was able to get into the shed, evade the traps, and was so consistent; it's because the "thief" was the owner of the tools to begin with. There was even a case I read recently of a man who was convinced he had someone breaking in and leaving him notes - but the notes were written by him! It was all a CO leak.

Ronald probably set some of the gun traps while in this sleep-walk state, and thus, that's how he accidentally shot himself; it really seems hard to imagine someone forgetting they set up a GUN TRAP, but another symptom of CO poisoning is memory loss too. The traps are also pretty excessive, even for the times, so this just makes me think he was suffering severe paranoia, memory loss, sleep walking states, etc. Living alone, too, there was no one to really match symptoms too, and it was probably easy to right Ronald off as senile.

My theory about Ronald, is that he was a sleep walker. Hear me out! I sleep eat. Yes. I eat during my sleep. My parents and sister have confirmed this and have tried to talk to me during my trips to the pantry and saw i was asleep! I would have no memory of the nighttime snack attack, and even weirder, I somehow knew where everything was, like I would if I were conscious! I think Ronald was going through something similar! He would get up at night, and then grab his key to the shed, put the missing tools somewhere he wouldn't have been able to remember due to being asleep. In his paranoia, he got himself killed.

That last story makes me so angry, the gall, the greed, the sheer total disregard for human life over profits disgusts me to my core. if someone ever tells you "lets try X to save Y" Y being either time or money, tell them to GFThemselves and walk right out the door because that company does NOT care about your life or safety. never compromise on your or other's safety, ever.
