I only have tomato purée made from my homegrown tomatoes. I don’t have crushed tomatoes can I use just the puree?
ОтветитьMy nonna (from Palermo) always used fennel seed in her sauce. I love it so I do it too.
Every family has their way & their traditions. It's all good. 🍝
Also known as Neapolitan Ragu. It was brought to the U.S. by the millions of southern Italian immigrants. However in Italy, we never serve the meat over the pasta. The meat flavors the sauce, and only the sauce and pasta are served together. The meat is served as a separate course with vegetables after the pasta.
ОтветитьHah... ThankU Luv... It's just like my Mama would have made it... Hahaa
ОтветитьThis is not a meat sauce, buy it has meat in it...Hahaa..... Very funni indeed. It's like saying one doesn't think the Pope is Roman Catholic....Hahaa...I just like yah sense of humour... Hahaa..

ОтветитьLove the Content and Technique Princess. This coming from a 100% Italian Family born and rasied in Brooklyn NYC. 8 hour "Sawce" ebetuung Pork, Veal, Bracciole right in that Sauce for about 8 hours. Used to get the wooden spoon from my Nonna because we would sneak and dip the best Italian bread that only NYC makes in the Sauce. Lol. Yes it's true it's all about the NYC Water besides knowing how to perfect this 8 hour 💎
Ответитьin italy we use oregano just for 'pizzaiola'
ОтветитьThank you Nicole. I love your Sunday sauce. I used your recipe as a base. I use pork chops along with the pork chop bones...italian sausage, and italian meatballs. So good! My older son who normally does not like spaghetti tried this and fall in love with spaghetti. this is a game changee for my family when everybody actually loves spaghetti and you can just cook one thing instead of 4 things bc someone doesn't like the main recipe. But now, everybody loves the main recipe. LOVE LOVE LOVE this.
ОтветитьLove this recipe and yes I’ve jooggged it my up!
ОтветитьThe way you make your sauce is very close to way I make mine which I learned from my grandma and mom.
ОтветитьDo not call Italian sauce gravy NEVER
ОтветитьThis seems like A GREAT Recipe for Football season!!! Especially if your team plays later in the Day
ОтветитьI defy this woman to find any can ot tomatoes that says gravy on it. Its sauce! Only sauce!
Gravy is a bastardized version of Italian sauce from a language barrier with ignorant Americans who frequented Italian eateries when they went to Italian restaurants.
Gravies are brown and made from meat juices. Sunday sauce is made from the sauce and we add meat to flavor and finish cook the meat to keep it soft and juicy. Not to flavor the sauce.
This woman is intellectually incorrect. Italians do not call sauce gravy. Firstly they don't in the language have a word for gravy as Americans do. In italy everything is a sugo or sauce.
Her inter usability of the word gravy with sauce is her american bastardized understanding of what shes doing. Its sugo north south and in every direction in Italy.
False information and her recipe is no secret!
less blabbing and more cooking please
ОтветитьMy wife and I prepared and cooked all of the meat and onions last night. This morning, we started cooking the sauce and then put in all the meat. She kept telling me, "You're killing me" because of all the wonderful aromas. We just added some mushrooms because we love mushrooms. We've been tasting it all day (for salt content 😊). It is the best sauce we've ever tasted. Thank you so much for sharing.
ОтветитьLooks scrumptious. Thank you for sharing your family recipe!
ОтветитьHow many thumbs up can i give u girl. So loved this recipe. The real deal.
ОтветитьItalian American immigrants when they came over here in the 1890's thru 1930's, they had to create their own recipes, because they couldn't find the supplies they could in the old country! They were astonished with the amount of meat there was, and learned to braise all different cuts to feed their families! I honor those immigrants, their courage and sacrifice, their hard work and most importantly their love, which is eternal!
Ответитьa sugo consists of carrots and celery.... also you should have used a lil wine to deglaze the pan after having had cooked the meat.... what kind of italian are you ? LOL
(I ALSO CANT BELIEVE YOU USED CONTADINA..... YUCK)
i am 83 so have been making sauce for many years but every now and than i like to try others recipes i am making yours as we speak. i forgot to add salt and pepper to the meatballs something i have never forgotten they are still good . the sauce has been coking 1 1/2 hour so far .i only added 5 cups of water so far but tastes good. the only different thing i did was when i fried the meatballs i rolled them in flour like lida does that italian cook who has a tv show since she did it that way
ОтветитьMy Aunt Annie made the best sauce. I have been trying to make it for years. Your recipe is the closest I've come to getting it right. Thank you. Love the meatballs too.
ОтветитьI tried to contact Arnone's Sausage but the number I got from their Facebook page didn't work (recording said the number was not in service). Can you please tell me how I can contact Arnone's to get their sausage?? Many thanks.
ОтветитьMy Grandmother used to put chicken and Braciole in her sauce along with sausage, meatballs, and pork
ОтветитьI used this for meatball sub sourdough bread oh my goodness delicious 🤤 ❤ yummy
ОтветитьHow big is the pot that was used?
ОтветитьPretty sure I don't have a drop of Italian blood in my system. My ancestors were Romanian, German and a pinch of English. However, I absolutely love all those Italian flavors. That said, I see a new Sunday tradition in my life. Thanks so much Nicole for sharing your family's recipe and making Sunday sauce less intimidating. I'm definitely trying this. Much love to you & yours and a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. 🎄😋
ОтветитьWhen doing pasta al succo use also some red wine
ОтветитьAll I can say is O...M...G!!!!!! I followed this recipe and I feel like a chef. This was so good, totally unbelievable! I made the meatballs also. I didn't have breadcrumbs so I whizzed a box of Aldi stuffing mix and used some of that. Deep flipping licious! So tender just like you said. Other than the stuffing mix I followed to the letter. OMG people you can be a chef too! The whole house smelled so good I called the neighbors over just to smell. Nicole, you are the best cook, chef 👩🍳 EVER!!!!!!❤❤
ОтветитьMy mom made this sauce using beef bones and cooked it for "2" two days, yummy.
ОтветитьWhen is that Cookbook coming out? 👍🙏
ОтветитьMade this today. Talk about YUMMO. Three extra containers in the freezer for another day. Absolutely delicious.
ОтветитьOMG, That looks like Heaven 😋😋😋😋
ОтветитьI made your sauce one Sunday morning and enjoyed the tasting process all day and the meatballs, sausages and neck bones were a hit as well.
ОтветитьI love this !I thought I was the only one that put pork in mine and the Italian sausage but I use ground sausage so I’ll have to try the likes
ОтветитьAbsolutely love you and your channel, you are so real.
ОтветитьI froze 20 lbs of tomatoes today.
20 lbs last week.
Lots of sauce this winter!
My wife and I live in Medellin, Colombia. (Originally from Houston, Texas.) This morning, I went to our big local market and found one of the pork sellers. They weren't hard to find because they were carving up an entire pig on the side table. I ordered 2 kg of "huesos de cuello de cerdo" (bones of the neck of the pig). They were happy to oblige. The total cost was 45,000 COP (about $10 US.) Thank you for sharing this wonderful secret family recipe.
ОтветитьEverything is in the sauce. Now I just have to wait 4-6 hours. I'm sure it will be worth it!
ОтветитьAhhhhh....lightbulb goes on! I didn't know about Nicole's Italian heritage, but that explains her inability to speak without the hand gestures. LOL! I'm cooking this recipe right now, btw. :)
