seagate hard disk not detected. Does it spin?

My tvs diode is not shorted and the disk does not spin. What do I test now? Should I renove it anyway?

A bit late, but, I recently had my seagate exos internal 16tb drive stop working
when my desktop pc was idling. now if i try to boot my pc, it will hang on the
"detecting drives" bios screen. if i plug the exos into my external adapter.
the drive spins up as it should, sounds like its reading, then will make weird
repetitive noises for a few seconds, then stop reading, but stays spinning full speed.
my laptop will detect the drive model ONLY, after a couple minutes, but can't see the
contents, or show the drive in the partitions program of windows 8.1.
The drive has less than 100 hours of run time on it, and i just finished
transferring all my valuable data to it as its only backup. So years and
terabytes of data will be down the drain if i can't get this drive working again.
I always made 2 backups of my data, but this was a fresh start on a brand new drive
to consolidate all drives into just one. My other data drives were getting too old
to trust functionality much longer. I bought this EXOS drive new from amazon.
The EXOS drives are laser welded casings, and would need to but cut around the weld,
in order to get to the typical screwed on cover found on most HDDs.

I have the Seagate 3TB (ST3000DM001) and it spins up with no strange noises, but will not be detected, even with Disk Utility...what should the next step of diagnosis be? Edit: The drive spins up normally, but then stops spinning after just a few minutes. I already cleaned the contacts on the board (which were dirrrrty!!) but that didn't help :(

I've got an old SCSI Seagate Barracuda ST150176LC that won't spin up. No noise at all. Drive light on the circuit board does blink, but otherwise no activity. I located two diodes, both Motorola 933 1BL3 ZP, that appear shorted. I haven't removed them yet. Do they need to be replaced? If so, what equivalent diode can be used? I haven't found specs for these diodes. Thanks.

Thanks a million, the diodes on my 1TB barracuda were fine, but the pin contacts were dirty, cleaned them all and voila, now to save my files

Hi I have a hardisk with the Rom (Bios burned - in the sense that PCB's rom is missing)
Reason I had buying a card to do the swapping but the repairman lost the original card)
Do you think it is possible to recover my Seagate Hardisk?
In short, the HD has never been opened and card that has does not have the original BIOS
I feel the engine turns but it doesn't see any data windows with new pcb donnor

I have a ST2000DM001 that doesn't spin. I've cleaned the contacts with a eraser.
I've also checked the diodes. They are both not shorted. Is there anything else I could try?

I noticed that you have done a few of these videos (which are great) but they all turn out to be bad diodes. What about if the diodes are fine? I have a Seagate 500GB that makes no sound but the diodes appear to be ok. What should I be checking next?

Would really appreciate an answer to this. You use special software after to look at the sectors etc, is this necessary or could you just plug it in and use as normal?

i have the same issue but both diodes seem to have continuity. one reads .699 and one reads about .500. is it still possible one of the diodes is bad? should i remove them and test the drive without them?

I have 3 dead diodes 2 x 1ROZ and a small S41 on a seagate 4TB external drive that does not start up. the outside diode has power. I am a bit nervous about 3 removing them.

I am scared to apply power to the board without the diode as there is a chance it can fry the board.
