For shipyard test, they want you to run stringer beads the whole test. Which makes since for the amount of heat in a weave bead,that heat changes widens grain structure.

Thats easy, no power tools and have to start stop in bends for the canada cwb tests

For the cover pass is the last three welds just small tight weaves or stringers i couldn’t really tell

Never took a bend test my whole career everything was x-rayed

D1.1 is mandatory in Los Angeles California if you don't have a license to weld thru the los Angeles department of building and safety than your worthless. And our test are on 1 inch plate. Good video bro

How are you getting such good pen on 85 amps when i was running my flat test i had to crank it to over 130 on 7018 rods just to get solid pen.

That bevel looks like trash! Look at all those dips. Overall I would expect better videos out of a welding school. Absolutely no mention of how to prep your plates like removing mill scale on the back side or backing bar.

I have a cheap $70-Chinese inverter welding machine, from Amazon that has an arc that sounds like yours.

gotta let that plate cool down between each weld so plate doesn’t bend!

When I passed my City and Guild MMA exams we were not allowed to use backing bars. We were expected to control the amount of penetration. Also after finishing the test piece the plates joined were expected to be flat. not bent like a butterfly.

Today was my first day for intermediate stick and my teacher said to put it on 100 amps I thought it was too hot when welding and my welds were shit no matter what I did I’m gonna try this thank you sir!
