I remember when the great Roger Ebert opened his review of the TCP stating that Whoopi would be the recipient of the Oscar for Best Actress… and she was passed over. And it was most definitely racial bias. No way she didn’t give the performance of the year and of the decade… completely wowed everyone by playing against every type the would have thought for Whoopi…

Danny glover played the heck out of this role…I hated him for years after this movie. And Whoopie deserved an Oscar. Its true that comedians make the best dramatic actors.

I love this movie so much. And there is a new one. Great body also back when I read. This is my favorite, It is awesome sauce. Christmas Day I am going to go see a movie!

My gosh, how did the Academy not give Oscars to Whoopie and this movie? She was brilliant and the movie was one of Spielberg’s best.

I dedicate this scene to a former boss who told me I worked too much while everyone else wasted school district money: "Everything you did to me, already done to you."

I know it's just a movie but the way Celie found her voice always makes me so proud. It's not easy in real life and giving in for years is so realistic, it's scary. It's powerful and this scene depicts it perfectly.
