I just got a 2004 XC90 in that exact color last Monday! 😂forgot about this episode.

Old XC90 way better than new Hybrid Chinese ones.. avoid them if you can.. in 5 years from now you will know why ;) old D5 forever ! Best engines ever made!!

My discovery was the worst car I've ever owned.

See it was all well and good arguing about which was best back in 05, but now in 2023, you still see those mk1 XC90s lumbering around with 200k miles + on them. Can't say the same for the disco.

You still see plenty of the Volvos on the road, you don’t for that Land Rover. Even adjusted for production and sales. There’s a reason. Aside from that the Volvo was just better designed in terms of usability

I'd have the Swedish Vo' anyday over the Indian owned LR Disco. More spacious comfortable in the best Swedish Volvo tradition, safe and practical.

I just bought a XC90 V8 all-wheel drive automatic manual transmission that needs a new transmission! I think I'm going to have that transmission rebuilt. My upholsterer will trade weed for the upholstery job so that's a relief.

My dad bought his XC 90 in 2006 new. He's still got it to this year. The only big problem surfaced in 2021 which was a new particulate filter. Cars' looking a bit banged up by now as he treats it like a workmachine. Pulling tractors out in through deep muddy forest routes was a common thing. It's got 360.000km or 220.000 miles and no signs of stopping. He was recently thinking about replacing it but as he saw the current car prices he decided on another 10 years instead

Take the Discovery over the Volvo any day of the week. Plus I have the 4.4 V8. Cheers 🇬🇧 🍻

Ever since 2002 to the current model, when the XC90 first came out, there has been no fatal accident with the Volvo. It just goes to show that these Volvos are built to last and keep people safe.

Volvos are the most under rated cars yet beautiful and reliable compared to other luxury cars. I like my bullet proof XC60.

I do like the look of the Discovery. However two fairly big issues. Firstly it's very heavy so the early 2.7 diesel was slowwwwwww! and the never ending issue... Reliability Jaguar Land Rover just can't seem to make the cars reliable enough. All the surveys for as long as I can remember (including recent ones) put them right near or at the bottom. Too much bother for me. A shame as it's a very capable car. XC90 all the way I'm afraid.

Tha volvo diesel is one of the best motors ever made but okey

No one has ever died in an XC90. That’s some achievement.

Where are people getting this idea that XC90's are reliable vehicles? It's one of the vehicles I see most in my workshop. And not for cheap repairs either. Horrendous electrics, cooling system faults, failed electronic modules. It's a long list. And probably the worst parking brake design known to mankind

Love our XC90. Later 200hp D5, plenty of grunt for towing and at 170,000 miles it can still do a 600 mile week without even having to think about it breaking. If you want to do serious off roading you’d buy the Disco. For everything else, the Volvo.

I ignored both and had a Q7. Definitely the best choice.

xc90 is a timeless classic, probably the greatest car ever made. you can drive it in summer and winter, its big and beautiful, great car. smashing car. the Discovery needed the Disco3 to become a great car. both great cars. both times classics in my mind. great just great stuff.

LR3 is one of the best car in the world. Period.

Yes the third row seats in my 2013 XC90 3.2 are tight, but my sister who is 5’7” and in her 20s and my day who is 5'11" and is 63 was able to fit. you just wouldn't want to be back there for more than an hour. It’s also surprisingly good off road and believe it can do most of what a Land Rover could do while having the reliability that Land Rover doesn’t have.

You've got to wonder how much cash these guys take for the favourable reviews.. Everyone knows the Discovery is a mediocre car a for premium price. The Volvo is a long lasting classic. Jizza himself fell in love with the Volvo and has ownd a few of these.

This Volvo is really underrated abou its capabilities…

15 years later, those diesels are one of the strongest engines ever made. So I’d say it’s not that bad.

Land Rover? PLEASE PLEASE Stay the hell away from these rubbish expensive cars. Since the manufacturing was taken over by the Chinese they’ve been nothing but rubbish.
