You learn the can technique on the chain yourself or from somebody else who was?

Im not going to break into anything, But im going to steal the padlock from my dumpster because i dont have a lock ill use this shimming techniqe to do it

I tried this with a coke can once but it was too flimsy to work

Are there any other materials that could be used? The can material isn’t strong enough to shim my padlock.

I fiigured out a way to decode it. I popped it open with a shim similar to the way LPL opens a master lock 175. Then used the change tool as a tensioner to tension against the wheels and feel the combination out until it slipped into change mode easily.

Wait. With the steel shim, he shimmed the heel of the shackle (pivoting side). With the aluminum one, he shimmed the toe. Shouldn't a shackle with cutouts on both sides of the shackle need two shims, and even if it did need only one, shouldn't it be the same side every time?

well i just tried this on a very similar lock. and i failed miserably.

You can make DIY steel shims from food tins. I made a couple in this way when I was playing around with some random locks that I found on the ground
