I think they've been fighting each other in other Galaxies. Evolving against themselves, live some self-sharpening Bio-form blades.
And we are fighting the winners of this evolving race.

They may have been doing this for 2 to 3 billion years, feeding and learning from each other over n over, till all of a sudden saw a signal from another Galaxy.
That signal drew the lot of them.

These Shadow Hives, may be a survival tactic, to absorb any wastage from these battles.

And here I thought I was being unique with my color scheme, turns out I'm just a cannibal.

Mean tbh any information they gain would be immediately free reign for the hivemind which the hivemind can spread that knowledge throughout it's other fleets tbh.. Only thing Hydra primarily gaines for itself is biomass which can not be as instantously transfered.

I mean you could literally obliterate anything besides humans using tech, the dogma of not having allies and not using comp tech to advance us to win. All that there needs to be is the guidance of the god emperor preventing corruption and with tech it would be a walk in the park. I love the lore but the whole blind dogma thing at peril blows my mind when there's a clear answer

Aren't they always technically eating their own kind through the biomass vats

I am a Tyranid player using Hydra's color scheme.

My head cannon is that they seed space hulks with specialized plant life and biomorphs with the intent of hurling them at dead, but volcanic worlds... effectively farming biomass by melting these otherwise useless hulks into a teeming biosphere from the relative safety of abandoned space.

They are so prolific with gaunts as a mean to better spread the seeds from this biosphere until the whole world is left but a cold, truly dead world with no hint of volcanic activity left... no plant life able to grow.

The secret behind their vast reserves of biomass being a result of their ability to turn into biomass what would have been otherwise abandoned by other fleets.

The loremaster speaks brothers, praise be the holy word!!

Seems like you need WMDs, planet killers and bigger. You can’t just not send aid and write off a whole planet of billions. The horde will just absorb all that and now is bigger tougher and more experienced.

Everyone in the galaxy is locked in dramatic stories of pathos and bloodshed... The hivemind though? Just playing an RTS game on a huge scale.

Tyranids technically all do this anyway. Biomass is biomass after all & it all goes into the same pit. It's quite usual for them to "recycle" the bodies of fallen Nids to breed & feed the next batch. Pretty efficient & resourceful for homicidal crab/insect things.

Hive fleet Hydra: The ultimate contingency.

I wish there were more instances of flighting between two different hivefleets from an outside perspective.

As someone who wants to enter to the W40k lore,all this information has been pretty resourceful

I believe it's been mislabeled it should have been named Hive fleet Vulture given the information you have provided they seem to be scavengers first picking over the bones of whatever is left.

I learn from a certain someone that there are worlds that have never seen war? Completely peaceful planet. Is that True?

But the hivemind would already know what the tactics were that defeated the defeated hive fleet so what could hydra learn that the hive mind did not al;ready know.
