I wish i found this video sooner, very clear explanations. I had no idea before, you made this easy to understand
ОтветитьI was looking to purchase another bowling ball, and I really appreciate this video helping me make a choice. I already have the DV8 troublemaker. Thanks for the great material you guys put out
ОтветитьGreat video guys thanks for the info !!
ОтветитьYou guys do a good job with videos but you’re talking about one of the most basic things to learn about bowling but you’re using terms that only experienced bowlers would have. You do this a lot on your videos. If a video is aimed for new bowlers, use lingo they will understand. Long, short, early, late, carry, ring 10, middle, outside, front to back, etc. don’t resonate with new bowlers at all. For videos aimed towards better bowlers, feel free to use all the lingo you want!
ОтветитьJesus thank you so much… ive almost given up on on both of my asym balls simply bc they “don’t hook” on my house shot but they work how i want them too when i loft em just weird learning curv ig
ОтветитьGues what..... When you drill into the weight block with your thumb hole on a symmetrical ball you make it slightly asymmetrical because you take weight out of one side of the weight block only.
ОтветитьWish you guys would do a video on your bowling jargon. I usually don’t understand what you are talking about.
I don’t mean things like curve, hook, and bucket.
I mean “stand up” “open angles” “shim” “push” etc.
With some hard work, I learned that “flair” is a catchy word for precessing (with an E), which is a word used in physics for wobble. The earth wobbles on its axis; that’s precessing. It does that because the globe is not perfectly balanced. You might say, its core is asymmetrical.
Anyway, your stuff is pretty good, but you can be better by speaking English. Use the bowling jargon, but follow the term with a word of clarification.
By the way, you are not alone! Most of the bowling videos are peppered with jargon.
So why don’t I just Google the jargon? I have! What you find is bowling jargon from 1930. They carefully explain such things as “the channels on each side of the alley (lane) are sometimes referred to as gutters.” Oh boy!
Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe your viewers don’t care what you are talking about, or they assume they know. But you guys spend a lot of your video time just talking. Well, that’s fine. I just wish I understood more of what you are trying to say. Thanks.
The mustache says we must call him: “Super-Commander-Admiral Kevin” and his partner “Sergeant Brad”
ОтветитьIn other words, on lighter oil, the asyms dig in earlier, thus losing rotation, and dying out down lane.
ОтветитьHey guys these are really great points but I have questions for you or maybe just a question I acquired about six bowling balls from my brother who's a pretty good bowler himself I'm just a you know every now and again bowler which I bowl maybe one League a year but how do I tell what balls that I have are asymmetrical or symmetrical
ОтветитьI think something that should also be extremely highlighted with symmetric balls and any balls in general, is that the symmetry is determined from side to side and not top to bottom. the biggest thing alot of people struggle with when determining if a ball is symmetric, is determining if the core is symmetric from every angle whether it 90, 180, 135 , 142 degrees. for example the Phaze II. its symmetric side to side but not top to bottom. but because side to side is the only thing that matters, it is in fact a symmetric core ball.
ОтветитьSymmetrical ... the core has an axis where rotating the core around the axis looks the same.
ОтветитьI wonder...Would a symmetric ball work on a fresh oil house pattern if playing outside where there is less oil and earlier dry? What happens when surface is added to a symmetric ball? Will it hook earlier and then run out of gas because it tends to be weaker?
ОтветитьCan you guys consider making a PART 2 to this video explaining how to drill the 2 different balls. Pin Up vs Pin down mass bias ect. This is all a little confusing to me but I'm doing my best to understand it. Thanks for your videos
ОтветитьThanks for the breakdown boys.
Headed to Vegas tomorrow and may bring a couple of new balls home
Great explanation, I would be interested to see a list of terms in the bowling world (their synonyms) and then the definition. When I got back into it three weeks ago I was like, 5th board, asymmertric? I was lost but got into reading. However, in Professional gaming we use key words to call out map spots etc, this seems similar as far as term use.
ОтветитьMy buddy is just learning to put hook on the ball. He's also about to buy his first ball. Should he go asym or sun?? Thanks for your time!
Ответитьcan you please discuss the pin up and pin down and pin location to the side thanks
ОтветитьVery helpful , I’m just getting back into bowling after 30 yrs. This makes it clearer to me why my Gem 💎 appears to roll out , I was thinking it was me , either too much up the back or lack of revs , but on my house shot it’s not always a higher volume of oil . ( especially on a night we bowl after the high schoolers have a match) this info will be useful in knowing when to get out of the one ball and moving to the next . Thanks guys
ОтветитьSo which is best to use on a wet dry condition when you want control and early roll?
Ответитьhow to distinguish from outside?
ОтветитьJargon fellas, jargon. Please speak English fellas for us new guys
ОтветитьTo much jargon. Needs better explanation for more lay people.
ОтветитьI just bought my first symmetrical ball (Hammer Infamous) and I'm getting it driller tomorrow. So........ Are we saying the difference in shape comes AFTER the break point? I was under the impression that the difference was before, i.e. more skid and snap with an asym and a more progressive arc with a sym BEFORE the break. But watching this I feel I got that wrong. And then comes the question if I should get this drilled pin high or pin low. The Hammer / Brunswick site says pin low will give maximum arc (which I took to be before the break point) and hook (which I took to be after break point), while pin high will give greater length before the break. Man...... My coach said I needed a symmetrical in my arsenal, and he'll also be drilling this for me, so I'm sure he knows what's up, but I like to understand myself what's going on and I'm not sure I'm getting it!
Ответитьonce the ball is drilled, it becomes Asymmetric
Ответитьmy house shot is like 32" and my hustle wine cant hit pocket, picked up a uc2 a friend of mine has and i was able to hit pocket. it took us by suprise that the hustle had more hook than the uc2 on these lanes. just goes to show, dont be stubborn, if your line sucks grab a different ball. especially during practice
Ответитьi really love your videos.... But. (Isn't there always a but!) Who is your audience? For example, at 10 min, Brad asking Kyle what ball he would use to start, and Kyle saying he would use the assym and then Brad asking at what point he would use the sym? All interesting, but useless to me. I bet a a pro could relate to what another pro uses. I want your advice on what ball I should use as a beginner or an intermediate bowler. I suspect most of your viewers fall into one of those categories. I suggest a video where you suggest different balls based on how fast a viewer throws a ball, age, their average, how much hook they are getting, maybe lane conditions, etc. That would be SUPER useful! For example, I came upon this vid bc I am 60 years old, retired and started bowling 4 years ago, 150+ average but heading down because I started to work out to get in shape and now both my balls are hooking like crazy hard. Even my plastic ball hooks 9" now. I need a new ball and my pro shop does not have a pro - they have a guy with a 140 average and has 2 years pro shop experience. And I live 1.5 hours from the next closest lanes...
ОтветитьKyle the stache 🤣🤣🤣
ОтветитьHi brad and Kyle I love bowling 🎳
ОтветитьHow should a bowling ball fit
ОтветитьThat Brunswick hybrid prism..my son shot his 300 with that
ОтветитьNeed a video on the difference in ball motion with a strong core/weak cover vs weaker core/stronger cover. Bowling both on a long pattern vs short pattern
ОтветитьI eget it but this time ou sounded very confuse
ОтветитьWhat if you don't want to hook, then what?
ОтветитьBobs burgers anyone?
Ответитьis this TBC in NY?
ОтветитьA lot of excellent points here, and things I never thought about before. My PSO had similar comments. I was having trouble late in league and tourneys with my asym's... they used up energy before hitting the pins. I could get to the pocket but started leaving single pins (back row). Picked up a sym ball and instantly solved my problem.
ОтветитьExcellent video, answered all of my questions. I started bowling again after 15 years, bought an asymetrical ball, 2 actually. I've have had nothing but issues with hook and control on my league. My average is almost 20 pins less than where I left off. I just purchased a Roto Grip Icon Helios, and can't wait to get it drilled, and to get my control back!!!
ОтветитьThey're making bowling porno now? Weird..
Ответитьboth of you guys are fun to watch. love your content. keep up the good work..
ОтветитьHeh... @$$
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьIt can Hook more but that means its going straight. But if theres more oil, it can hook less but have more energy... I dont think any of this was thought out
ОтветитьWhen Brad is standing there smiling, he reminds me of Chucky from the Child's Play movie circa 1988. It just so happens the voice actor is also named Brad.
ОтветитьWOW!!!!!! I understand more about Assym vs. Sym balls now than I ever have in my life. Thanks Brad and Kyle👍👍👍. Going to get me a new urethane ball and a reactive Assym ball soon. Can I get some pointers on what kind of Assym ball I should get? I am a high to medium rpm bowler what ball would you recommend I get for Reactive Assym?
ОтветитьI've been playing Disc Golf for over 10 years now. Some of the terminology that translates to functions of how a disc flies reminds me of ball reactions. A stable disc wants to "fade" sooner, than a flippy disc that wants to "flip" or, move towards the particular clockwise/counterclockwise rotation that you throw it. I figure a symmetrical ball would likely want to have a balanced reaction, whereas an asymmetrical has an offbalanced weight to it's core to influence it's rolling pattern. Just things that are going through my mind after years from having not bowled. I miss bowling.
Ответить25 years ago, we called "The Core" a weight block
ОтветитьCan't hear a word Kyle is saying... the STACHE is getting in the way 😆
ОтветитьWe gah deese two bown baws heah
