An undisputed masterpiece.

Been a widower for 35years raised two sons on my own and this tune brings a tear to my eye every time I hear it and I will never forget my wife's name ever even though I'm nearing 80years of age

I am not sure how to describe this piece of music brilliance. I am so sad I only discovered it later in life. If is simply brilliant. It conveys so many feelings. May it bring both peace and joy to those privileged to hear it. A masterpiece.

Brilliant piece of music. I can listen to this time & again, yet never get sick of it.

One of my uncles chose this as the song that was played as my grandpa’s coffin was lowered. This was a popular song when I was very little and I have memories of my mum and grandpa listening to it. I know now (from reading some other comments below) that Going Home is a popular choice for funerals.

My Grandad's Funeral was today and they played this at the service. Such a fitting send off for a wonderful man who lived a wonderful life. A Geordie man :)

We should talk about music more, as it's so emotive. I sympathise with people who are reminded of their dearly deprarted when listening to this tune. The departed do try and tell you stuff before they go to the next life, I'm sure of it. Everytime my Mam asked for The Fureys, an Irish band, I knew she was happy, so it's about celebrating life, listening to those emotive beats and riffs. I've found solace in the comments here...at least we all share a love of music. Then we have to get out of our reverie and turn up for work (!).

30 years I’ve had a tape with some movie tunes. Than I lost it or borrow to someone. Over 25 years I was looking for this tune and couldn’t find it because I didn’t remember it’s name. Yesterday I turned on earlier football game Newcastle -Arsenal and during squads presentation I heard it in the background. Unbelievable. Didn’t know it was Knopfler. Listen to this now over and over.
