Playing Media files via SSD Drives on LCD TV with Blackbird VX-2SSD

Will this work with all smart TVs? I've just upgraded from an HDD to a SSD. At the moment my TV won't recognise it, although the SSD does have power when I plug it into a USB port on my TV. I haven't installed any software on my TV, but not without trying. Mine is a Crucial BX500 1GB, which requires 5v and 1.7 Amps. It's a SATA 6Gb/s. Thanks.
