Genesis live, Paris Bataclan 1973 long version, 16mm master in 4k

Always wondered why they used two microphones stuck toghether with duct tape for the lead singer? Feedback or noise cancellation? Stereo recording? Any ideas?

Oh my friend this is a masterpiece! I will always thank my step father for introducing me to Genesis when I was a young lad. They were far superior musicians of their time and we are very lucky to see such visual perfection. I loathe the modern day music and fascination with such tasteless music.

If you would have told me in 1973 that Peter Gabriel would still be making great music way ahead of it's time 50 years later, I would have believed you.

Whomever remastered this wow, my god thank you! I loved this era of the band. I always thought, what if? But they are all so talented I guess they didn't do too bad all told :P

I played at Bataclan in 2000, before the tragedy that occurred there. Great times when music was still respected.

In an interview Gabriel said he never did drugs though his music and stage presence would seem to be heavily influenced by them.

It's can't be.

Just brilliant to find this early 70s material of Genesis. The camera work is fine in most cases, very good are the close-ups of Gabriel and the shots showing the audience. And Gabriel's movements. He was really very articulate in expressing himself. No wonder he matched up with Kate Bush, as she was on a similar track.
I would appreciate it if someone could print up the interview text in English as many of us are not so fluent in French that we can follow everything.

Used to listen to this (album version) when I was 14, although it was released when I was 10. Interesting music and really cool to catch the live version multiple decades later

This is absolutely AMAZING, especially for a big Genesis fan like me. My question is: What did the cameramen have against Steve Hackett? Not even during guitar solos or intricate guitar parts, he is shown. Weird.

Such a wonderful movie, great quality and great sound, thank you!! I saw them in 1973 at the Rainbow, in 1974 at Dury Lane - (Harold the Barrel evening) and Wembley on the Lamb tour. Plus 1986 in Chicago and Cowdray Ruins in 1993. Shame that some of Suppers Ready is missing- but still a wonderful video….Thanks again!

Gabriel should have at least tried a comb over. That split hairline thing just didn’t cut it.

The sound on this is way better than the Genesis concerts I saw in the mid 70s. Granted, those 2 concerts where in a converted movie theater, but this sounds almost studio quality. Why?
